AMNESIA AND A KEY ...

Previously on SOAP SINS
- The door was opened by Brent the blonde surfer dude. His goofy grin was gone and his blue eyes were wide and nervous. Dakota wondered if he too suspected Dragos of vampirism.
- "Where were you?"
- "With the Beverly Hills cops." She closed the door behind herself.
Nick, her prime time husband, sauntered into the foyer and peered at
her.
- "There's been a bunny incident," Brent suddenly stammered.
- Dakota gave her husband a kiss.
- Nick frowned and took a step back. "Who in the hell are you and
just what do you think you're doing in my house ...?!"

The story now continues ...

- Dakota shook her head in disbelief. "I'm your wife!"
- Nick clutched his head and replied he was single. He then walked
back into the living room, sat down on the leather sofa, and picked
up the latest copy of Variety.
- Brent the blonde surfer dude now explained what he had meant by
a bunny incident. During the party they had attended, the bunny working
the bar had assumed mixed drinks were supposed to be mixed by pouring
them into the same bottle and throwing the bottle into the air. The bottle
had come crashing down on one of the guest's heads - and the guest just
happened to be Nick. The mansion doctor had been summoned, and
said the amnesia would be temporary. Hopefully.
- Dakota was exasperated. "My life is a mess!"
- Brent the blonde surfer dude said to look on the bright side. "You're
a soap star and now a co-executive producer too."
- "You forgot to mention that my new co-star the real life vampire just
claimed his first victim and my husband doesn't even know who I am!"
- Nick chuckled from the living room and she heard him, given her Hollywood Hills house was very open concept on the main floor.
"Dumb guy. If I was your husband, I sure wouldn't forget it."
- "You just did!"
- Brent ushered her into the kitchen. "He also forgets conversations
from minute to minute. Would you like me to stay at the house a while?"
- Dakota nodded. "You are such a great flunky ... I mean friend ... to
have around in times of trouble."
- He poured her a glass of French wine and handed it to her. She nodded
and downed it in an instant. "I need something else."
- "Scotch?"
- "No," she sighed. "A plan. To stop Dragos the vampire."
- Brent promised to buy garlic cloves from the supermarket and hang
them around the house. But that would have to wait until the morning.
She started to say she would now take a long bubble bath but was
interrupted by loud knocking at the door. They went to see who it
was but Nick had already opened the door. There was no one there.
- "Look, someone left an old music box."
- They watched as he opened it and it played an eerie melody. Dakota
took out the key that had been left inside and held it up to the light.
It was engraved with unusual markings."Runes."
- "You mean tunes," Nick grinned as he walked back to the leather
sofa with the strange box.
- Brent the blonde surfer dude shook his handsome, clueless head.
"Who's Runes?"
- "Runes are ancient alphabets." Dakota was intrigued. "Someone has
sent us a clue. And this key must open something, too. But what?"
She decided to contact the officer she had given her statement about
Dragos the vampire, to update him on the latest. She fished his card out
of her purse and placed the call on her iphone as Brent shut the front
door and locked it. The phone was answered by another cop so Dakota
asked for the officer she had just met with.
- "I'm sorry, ma'm, but we have no such person on staff."
- Dakota numbly turned off her phone. "We are all in great danger
and there is only one person who can help us ..."
