ONE HOT AFFAIR Previously on SOAP SINS Dakota excused herself from the awards after parties and soon found herself entering the front hall of her house in the Hollywood Hills. Christopher was at a sleepover at a friend's house next door, so she was alone, at least until she poured herself a glass of wine to relax. That was when Nick, her prime time husband who was supposed to be in rehab, appeared. - "Hello, darlin!" - She stared in disbelief at his security uniform and fake glasses. "It was you! You saved me!" - Before she could throw her arms around him in gratitude, he cleared his throat and explained. "No, darlin, I just offed the son of a bitch because I knew all about your affair!" - Dakota blinked and flashed back to that fateful summer day. The story now continues ... - The California sun was hotter than hell, so what better place to be than Malibu? The sand outside the private beach house felt like warm silk on Dakota's naked toes. She was the last guest remaining at hunky leading man Donny Donald's cast party. The champagne had flowed freely all afternoon and she felt gloriously giddy. - Donny Donald was a man’s man. He could shoot pool, swim with the sharks, build houses with his bare hands, and he gave good camera. That is, he was highly photogenic, in a chiseled kind of way. He was a soap opera producer's dream, though he couldn’t act his way out of a paper bag. Never could. He didn't need to act. He just needed to make the viewers happy and happy they were, especially when he got a love scene. Dakota had just ended a torrid romance with a certain sultan and she was free again. Donny Donald's wife was in New York interviewing a fallen politician for her weekly talk show. In short, they were alone, hot, and about to rehearse a very seductive encounter. It started with a kiss -doesn't it always - and before she knew it, they were on the beach together, rolling around like a replay of the passionate beach scene in From Here to Eternity … - Pause. - "What a load of crap!" - Dakota blinked back to reality. "Well, it could have been like that." - Nick the prime time husband shook his head. "I want the real version of your affair, darlin. Real, not soapy." - "Oh, alright,” she sighed. "It was the day before I met you at the studio parking lot, we fought, and you asked me out. Donny was drunk, his wife had left him again, and I was mad at a studio head. We started running lines in my dressing room and one thing led to another." - Nick whistled a long slow whistle. "We were not yet together so you didn't cheat on me." - "Of course not. I may be a diva, a schemer, and sister to a vampire, but the lady's not a tramp!" - "That’s too bad. I shot Donny Donald dead cos you cheated but it wasn't cheating after all." - Dakota pouted her red lips. "You were defending me from Donny after he lost his airtime, shot Chip, and almost shot me. That’s what I told the police." She got a sudden glint in her eye. "Unless I change my story. Then you go straight to jail." - "That sounds suspiciously like blackmail." - "I know," she purred, slipping into her gold Prada flipflops. "Isn't it marvelous!" - And so it came to pass that a few calls were made and Nick the prime time husband helped Dakota Diamonelle get juicy prime time airtime for her soap opera. They had gone from the network to the internet, back to the network, and had just been bumped to the coveted 9 p.m. slot. When Dakota showed up for Donny Donald's funeral the next day, she lifted the black veil from her famous face and assured his weeping widow that he hadn't died in vain. She meant it too. There was nothing like prime time. As for the prime time husband - he decided he loved her more than ever for the sexy blackmail and threw in a new Mercedes to sweeten the deal. Dakota was over the moon, until her tall vampire brother showed up on her doorstep one night. - "I am back from Transylvania and I bear the most shocking news ...!" |
