He laughed so hard his face turned red and he was still laughing an hour later when security escorted him to a waiting ambulance. - Chip the executive producer had snapped and it was the strangest nervous breakdown Dakota had ever seen. When he had been sedated and taken away by the ambulance, she was relieved. Now at long last, Dakota Diamonelle was the whole show. Her first move as the acting executive producer was to invite her prime time husband Nick for a late lunch at Spago. - They settled in at their favorite corner table and ordered the schnitzel because it was big and different, just like today. - Nick grinned at the head waiter, who had more poise and depth than the Count of Monte Cristo."Give Wolfie my best." - The waiter nodded patiently and disappeared from view. - Nick scanned the room and pointed out the overly tall movie star at the next table accompanied by three sulking kids and their sulking nanny was not with his wife. - Dakota took another sip of her mimosa. "You're not being stalked by some crazy fan again, are you?" - "No." She sighed and wondered how to explain she had just had to travel through time and change things to make things the way they were supposed to be, to get out of that strange soap operaesque coma. Fact is she could not explain, nor did she want to. Nick would be shocked that she had intentionally made him miss a copy of Variety magazine. - "You know I love you," - He kissed her hand with a roguish grin. "And I thought your heart was in your wallet!" - "Only if it's a Prada." She paused. "You know, your phone is ringing." - "I thought it was yours." - "It is my first day as acting executive producer instead of co-executive producer, so I did like the executives and turned off my phone." - The elegant waiter returned with the bill. Nick tossed him his platinum credit card with one hand and answered his sleek phone with the other. After the brief conversation, during which all he did was murmur in agreement, he grinned. - "That was our next adventure calling. Darlin, we’re baaaaaaaaack!" |
