He started to descend but miscalculated the distance with his left foot and unceremoniously came tumbling down. - Dakota was at his side in an instant. "Nicky, wake up! Wake up, Nicky!" She turned and gave Dragos an accusing look "Why didn't you do something! You're supposed to be a vampire. You could have turned into a bat and stopped him ..." - Her half brother shook his head with a sigh. "Bats aren't superheroes, sis. Besides it's too bright in here with that epiphany chandelier turned on. Blinding." - "That's Tiffany," she sniffed. - He leaned over Nick and then called for an ambulance on his cell phone They all went to the hospital together but as it turned out, Dakota's husband's previous coma had been reactivated. Dragos ushered her home and suggested she eat something. She could visit again in the morning. By then, he might have woken up. - She helped herself to a bagel and wondered how she would be able to go on. There was no cream cheese left in the fridge. - He suggested she get a cook. The sexy European housekeeper had more than enough to do from dusting to answering the occasional phone call ... and dating Dragos. - But Dakota had other things on her mind. The following morning, she announced to an eager redheaded tabloid blogger in front of her doctor's Beverly Hills office that she was pregnant and her hubby was back in a coma. Like all things Dakota Diamonelle, it was a case of her life being more of a soap opera than any TV script. The public loved her even more for the new drama and she was invited on a chick talk show. The 40 something chicks fussed over her and praised her strong marriage, unlike their previous guest, a train wreck actress whose husband was a cheating sex addict. - "My Nicky never strays," Dakota declared into the camera. "We are solid as the royal couple!" - Then came the heartfelt audience applause. - Naturally she visited Nick daily but nothing had changed. It was a waiting game and this time there was no head writer who could bring him out of the coma. - The same night she wowed the talk show audience, on her way home, Dakota noticed a familiar face sadly walking on Sunset Blvd. with his backpack, taking the steps of the downtrodden.
