ALL IN THE FAMILY

- Replay of Rafe surprised to come across frowning EJ at Sami's place. Sami comes home with her dry cleaning and cries upon seeing the two men, fearing that Sydney's body was found. Rafe insists that is not the case. Sami is baffled how EJ got in. He knew where the spare key was from Johnny. Sami tells them she went for a drive and picked up her only black dress at the dry cleaners - the only one she has for a funeral. Elvis mutters he did not mean to worry her, but there is something important they must discuss. He has just processed the shocking news this morning and wonders if she has told Johnny and Ally yet. Ally is with Lucas and she has not told Johnny yet. Elvis claims he would like to be there when she tells him and goes on. The two of them are in this together, as they are the parents. Sami sadly agrees. Rafe announces it is not over until
they find who did it and get justice. Elvis dismisses Rafe's attitude as "macho bloody posturing!" Rafe alludes to the fact that EJ's crazy wife caused the whole mess in the first place. He insists he will find who took Sydney. Sami cries. EJ blasts him for not being sensitive to Samantha. Can he not see what she is going thru right now! Sami tells Rafe to leave, but would like Elvis to stay. Rafe is hurt. Why would she want him to leave? Sami cries because her baby is dead and all he wants to do is talk about who did it. He admits he cannot grieve like he did with her about Grace, though he does not tell her why - that he suspects Sydney could still be alive. Rafe now departs, after telling her he will be at the office in case she needs him. Sami has a cup of tea.  Elvis quietly reminds her that Rafe has no connection to their daughta. Sami, however, insists he does, as he brought her to her. That is why she simply cannot understand his behavior. Elvis thinks he is starting to show his true colors. Sydney might just be a case to him, with which to impress his superiors at the FBI.
Sami does not want to discuss that, though she admits she is glad EJ is there. He whispers he is glad he is there, too. He wants them to go thru this together. He will help Johnny and Ally as well. Sami thinks aloud about Rafe. He was not acting like himself. Elvis thinks he was. Sami
does not wish to discuss. EJ decides he should be going but if she needs anything, she needs only to call. He repeats they are in this togetha and departs. Sami unhappily wonders what happened. Why are she and Rafe not in this together? She grabs her coat and heads out.
- Meanwhile, at the cabin, Anna holds Sydney and sighs she does not think there will be a happily ever after for anyone if EJ takes her and Johnny away.
- Bo is on the phone at the station, barking he wants the Kiriakis mansion searched  again for that comb. Enter Vivian, who dramatically declares she wishes to help with the investigation. He doubts it and accuses her of planting evidence. Vivian pretends she is afraid of Carly, but she is there for the bail hearing. She starts to call the judge. Bo stops her and points out Carly already had the bail hearing and she is on the street right now. Viv becomes exasperated.
- In her hospital bed, a very confused Melanie laughs, then tells Carly to shut up and stop lying about being her mother. She thinks she is crazy
cos she shot her. And since she shot her, she should be in jail! She yells
at her to GET AWAY! Phillip hears and rushes to the rescue. Dan is behind him. Mel starts to cry. Phillip pulls Carly out. Dan comforts the crying patient. Out in the hall, Phil demands to know what is going on. Dan emerges and informs him he thought Melanie would need her mother more than anything now. He then calls Bo, who is shocked to hear Carly is at the hospital and Phil caught her in Melanie's room. Bo is on his way, after telling Viv that Melanie is now conscious. Once she is alone, Vivian sees an apparition of Lawrence, who wants to know what she is going to do now! Viv points out there are still charges against Carly. She will go to prison. Lawrence angrily says but she will live and he hates that! He leers he knows Carly will go to see Melanie and she might convince her she was trying to protect her from Vivian. She could go to prison with the
love of her daughter and that would leave Lawrence to eternity in hell! Vivian's temples are throbbing. She does not want Victor to turn her in. "Finish what you started, auntie," he implores. Pause. She gets a strange look in her eye and agrees to avenge his death - with another!
- In Mel's room, Phil visits with his new bride. They make light of their honeymoon situation. He is visibly relieved she is alright. She thinks Carly is not playing with a full deck.  He, however, is not so sure that Carly
was lying about being her mother. He elaborates. When she got shot, it
is true, Carly "was a wreck." She cried she had shot her daughter. Mel gets upset. She already had her mom, who died when she was young.
Phil agrees it is weird. He leaves to fetch his beloved a glass of water.
Mel flashes back to her past interaction with Carly. When Phillip returns, she is wide awake, lucid. "I made a decision. I need your help!" says she.
- Mia comes home to Maggie's kitchen, where Chad awaits. He wished to see her as he heard about Melanie. He was wondering how Mia is, given what happened at the wedding. She appears rather surprised and admits the whole thing freaked her out. She should have gone to the hospital, tho she does not like hospitals much. He understands. She recalls she did not know Grace was their baby and laments she couldn't bear to lose anyone else. Chad is sorry and hugs her. Gaby soon arrives and she too is sorry about Melanie. Turns out it was her idea to check up on her. Mia looks disappointed. The pair are together. Chad steps away to take a call from his D.A. dad. Mia notes Chad and Gaby are close. Gaby replies they just hang out. Mia tells Gaby that serious and Chad do not mix. She would hate to see her get hurt! Gaby retorts she knows Mia still wants Chad, but she should not put him down to her. Mia reminds her they shared a baby together and sweetly implies Gaby would be no more than a diversion to him. Gaby's face falls. Chad comes back.
- Chloe arrives at the hospital and wants to talk to Dan. They head for the pub. The convo soon turns to Carly. Chloe cannot believe he would let that woman in to see Melanie, and if she is her mother, how could she give her up! Furthermore, she is not going to stand by and watch Carly ruin Dan's life like she has done to Bo! Dan brings up how happy Chloe was when she had thought she was pregnant. Chloe thinks this has hit
him hard too, which is why he had bad judgment in letting Carly in to see Melanie. He concedes she might be right. He adds that he and Chloe love each other and will get thru this loss of theirs together. He takes her hand in his and promises her she will never be alone ...
- Bo and Carly talk on a bench down at the pier. He wonders what she was thinking when she told Melanie she was her mother! Carly just wants to make the situation right. She loves Melanie so much. She is smart and beautiful, passionate, obstinate. Bo quips it sounds like her! Mama Carly criticizes Madame Vivian for flying to town on her broom and threatening to destroy the little happiness Mel had finally found. That was why she had to do something. And she just had to go see her at the hospital, where the sound of her voice did help! However, things are still a mess. She is afraid she will not be able to make this up to her ... Ring ring! Carly stops to answer her phone. "This is Phillip Kiriakis. Melanie would like to see you. Now!"
- Elvis returns to the cabin, where Anna tells him Sydney is sleeping. He
is pleased to see the new passports are all there, everything in order.Time to disappear, so Samantha will have lost both her children as well as her boyfriend!
- At his office in the station, Rafe talks FBI biz on the phone, determined to find out where Sydney was held. The pressure is mounting. He soon receives Sydney's clothes in a bag. No body has been found. He sighs and pulls the clothes out with a stick, overcome. He remembers Sami holding Sydney as her daughter for the very first time, picks up the phone, slams it down, and breaks down crying. Enter Sami, who watches him, her own eyes filled with tears ...
