PART 1 - At DiMera mansion, EJ lies unconscious on the living room floor as the doorbell is repeatedly rung. Tis Nicole. She realizes the servants are off and uses her key. She is shocked to find EJ alone, writhing on the floor, clutching his head. "Help me!" he begs. She stares for a moment, not sure what to do, then picks up the phone and puts it down. "Give me one good reason why I should!" He tries to reach for the phone and she picks it up. EJ's face reddens and he is sweating, begging for her help. Nicole quips this could be deserved, as he is paying for his sins. He gasps and tries to sit up. "You must like this!" She admits she does not, despite the misery he put her and her family through. However, this does not bring her mother back. EJ screams he is sorry for all of that. Nicole laments she accidentally set the imposter Rafe free, thinking he was the real one. EJ gasps she did not deserve any of this and he is sorry for the pain he caused her. He clutches his head and adds he does not blame her for not helping him. She admits it would be messy if he died, then gets emotional. They were so good together and happy, but it was not enough for him! He wanted to toss her aside for her sister and even gave her a ring! The worst part was that she still wanted him and still loved him. EJ is getting weaker and continues to gasp. Nicole now calls herself a fool for keeping his secret, in an attempt to prove herself to him. But he just went ahead with his plan to harm Sami and her mother died because of it! She cries she wanted him and his kids and she has nothing now, whereas he has everything. He gasps he gave them up and is paying. Does he really have to die??? Nicole pauses. - At the Cheatin Heart, Dario serves Taylor and Brady, who is heavily drinking. Enter Mel. She solemnly asks how Brady is. He drawls they are working hard. Mel then goes to Dario, who has summoned her. Tay, still writing notes for work, comments that Melanie does not seem to like her. Brady replies she has a lot on her mind. He wants to know how Tay feels about EJ not going to jail. She claims to be incensed about it. Brady now realizes she is staying in Salem. Tay points out she made a promise to her mother to look after her sister. And they now need each other. Brady dubiously nods. - Meanwhile, Dario presents Mel with an envelope containing concert tickets. He even arranged for Maxine to give her the time off and hopes she will go to Chicago with him to see the concert. Mel becomes rather uncomfortable. He assures her he got two rooms. Mel agrees to go. Enter Detective McCarthy, there to see Dario! As he has a rap sheet, he could be a suspect in the afterhours breakins which have been occurring in the vicinity. Dario suggests she ask his boss for his work schedule, to verify he was present at work. Exit snooty McCarthy. Brady saunters up and offers Dario a new job,explaining it sounds like he might need one! Dario and Mel wonder why he has made the offer. Cos he helped Mel and also helped cover for him recently. He points out it would be entry level and gives him a number to call. Dario is interested. Brady adds Tay will help him get rushed through HR. Mel thinks Brady is being nice, though now the concert is obviously off. Tay walks back to her table with Brady and would like to know the reason for his generosity. Brady orders her to put the new hire to work for Smithers. Tay realizes he wants Dario to work for someone who is like a dictator. A busy Dario will not have time for Mel! She suspects Brady wants the fair Mel all to himself ... - Maggie and Jen are at Horton house. Movie night! Maggie thought she would have been with Dan. Jen casually states they were not meant to be together. The redhead wants to know what is going on. Jen explains it got serious too fast and gets ready for some ice cream. Maggie suspects it concerns Jack's message. Did she feel guilty? Jen helps herself to the sweet stuff and admits maybe. Maggie points out it is hard to start with someone new. Jen quips it is complicated, but the redhead thinks it is simple. "You're still in love with Jack!" Jen denies it and calls her reason for ending things with Dan situational, a feeling.Maggie calls that a crock. She has not come up with anything. And if she ends her relationship with him for no real reason, she will never know what could have been. - Carly shakily pops pills in her room, crying. Dan approaches her door, then remembers Jen asking him not to tell Carly they spoke about her. He curses to himself and walks away. Inside, Carly gasps, cries and throws out some pills. She gets herself together and heads back to the hospital, ready for another shift. Lexie is sorry about putting her together with Dan earlier, as it was not sensitive. Carly shows a brave face and plays it cool. That is, until she walks into the staff room and spies Daniel! He turns around and tells her he is sorry she could not make it tonight. Carly admits she went to the club a bit later and saw him with Jennifer, then left. It is great they are back together. Dan drawls it did not work out. Carly replies she is sorry. He wonders if she is. Carly gets defensive. Dan suddenly blurts out that Jen said she has feelings for him ...! - At the hospital, Nicole staggers in with EJ leaning against her. Dr. Lexie sits with them and asks if he fell. EJ has a sudden flashback of Mel's shoes and purse. "I remember!" He elaborates. That fateful night on the pier, there was this woman ...
