"If we don't get married tonight, we never will." There are things in the universe that are conspiring against them. The annulment? Yes, says she, but there is also something else. What else? He murmurs for her to tell him. Chloe admits she had a nightmare she would lose him. She ended up heartbroken and alone. Dan takes her hand and assures her he is there for her and is not going anywhere. "Ever!" Chloe points out until they are married, this dream will continue to haunt her. Therefore, she wants to marry him immediately. Can he please call the justice of the peace? Dan considers. Perhaps now they should wait and not get married tonight. Chloe exclaims her nightmare is coming true. The doc explains he does not want her to marry him in haste as a panic decision. She deserves a proper wedding. He feels she does not seem to be herself. Chloe protests. She is herself, despite the accident. "Please, go with me on this!" He eventually agrees to do whatever makes her happy. She thanks him and the couple embrace. The doc remains concerned. But he will call the justice of the peace and also summon Mel and Phil. Chloe thinks there is no time. He insists there is and departs to get to it. Chloe smiles for him to hurry back. She quietly hopes it will be done before Carly gets out of surgery and has a chance to tell ... - At Alice's, Mel sighs after opening the door to Nath, who is rather rude and mentions her trash talking his gal pal Stephanie. Mel clarifies she is only there to see Maggie. She is sorry his great-grandmother is not well. He too is sorry - for being rude. She understands the stress he is under. He now states he is glad she came by for Maggie. He speaks of the great long life Alice has lived. Mel is sympathetic he will lose her. She places her hands on his shoulders, then quickly withdraws and apologizes. They agree they are friends who moved on with their lives. Ring ring! Nath gets a call from Stephanie. Should she meet him there? Yes, sounds great. Steph notes he sounds strange. He replies everything is fine and he will see her soon. Once the call is over, Mel unhappily says she should go. She now gets a call from Daniel, summoning her to the hospital for the wedding. Afterwards, she complains to Nath about Chloe flipflopping and the sudden wedding. She is not sure she can get on board with it. Nath shares her view. Mel recalls he once said he had misgivings about Daniel and Chloe. Nath flashes back to overhearing Chloe on the phone, speaking of the fact that she cheated on Dan. He now suggests Mel talk to her father. Knock knock! Tis Steph. Mel leaves to find Phillip. When she is gone, Steph notes she seemed nervous. However, she would rather talk about Alice. Nath points out he came back for another reason. Hot air balloon tickets. Steph is touched and gives him a kiss. - Bill joins Jen, Maggie, and Laura in the Horton kitchen with an update on Alice from the doctor. Her breathing is labored. The end is near. The gang start to cry. Maggie points out they have been so lucky to have had her for so long and have a chance to say goodbye. Laura is sorry they did not have the chance to say a proper goodbye to Mickey. Maggie admits she would have given anything to hold him and tell him how much she loved him one last time. Bill assures her that he knew. Just like Alice does, adds the redhead. - At the pub, Ally and Lucas enter and Ally hugs mommy. Sami is happy to have her home! Lucas gives Sami the evil eye and wants to know what her home is these days - her place or EJ's. They sit at a table and Sami would rather not discuss. Lucas has serious concerns about her living arrangements. Sami promises to discuss it later. She is glad Lucas came back. He wistfully recalls how Alice made him feel like family, even though he found out he was a Horton later in life. He flashes back to Alice presenting him with his own Horton Christmas ornament. Back to reality. Lucas now tells Ally she is named after a wonderful woman. Sami agrees. And the secret ingredient in Alice's cooking was love. Lucas murmurs they should go. Sami forewarns Ally her greatgrandma will be tired but the visit will mean much to her ... - Sami, Lucas, and Ally join the Horton clan in Alice's kitchen. A family reunion ensues. Lucas has the nicest smile for Jennifer, who smiles right back. He, Sami, and Ally now go upstairs. - Maddie walks along the pier and laments she knows Kate and Stefano took the contents of her safety deposit box. She hopes it is not over! - At DiMera mansion, Stefano gleefully puts Maddie's tape in and presses play as Kate sips her wine. "Showtime!" The tape shows everything that happened "that night" and starts with young Maddie introducing herself, stripping down to her underwear, and hopping into bed with a lecherous old congressman called Andrews. Kate suspects the phoenix is enjoying this. Stefano drawls she was setting him up for a fall, as he needed his vote on a project. Kate had helped set it up! On tape, the congressman sits up and realizes he is being recorded. He grabs Maddie and threatens her to tell him where the camera is. "Let her go!" barks Stefano's voice. The congressman rushes off camera and the sound of a violent struggle, breaking glass is heard. The congressman is tossed back onto the bed. Maddie has a look and gasps he is dead. Kate's voice is heard whispering "Stefano, we killed him." Back to the present. Stefano stops the tape and credits Kate with saving his life that night. The important thing is they presently have the tape, which he puts away. He now gets a call from Madeline, who wants to meet down at the pier. He agrees and heads out, though Kate appears concerned. - At the hospital, Mel approaches Dan, who has just left a phone message for the justice of the peace. She wonders why the rush. Dan does not know, but this is what Chloe wants. He pours himself a cup of coffee and mentions what Chloe has gone through. Mel cannot shake the feeling that this is not fair to papa Dan. He insists he is doing it for her because he loves her. She makes him happy and he longs to make her happy. He excuses himself and steps away. Mel sighs and heads for Chloe's room, staring through the window as Chloe makes a phone call. She leaves a message for Nicole, thanking her for her advice. Mel clears her throat, having entered the room, and shuts the door. Chloe gives her a nervous look. Mel demands to know what kind of games she is playing with her dad ...! - Out in the hall, Daniel has managed to reach a justice of the peace on the phone and thanks him for being available. - Downstairs at Alice's, Lucas gets an unexpected call from mama Kate, surprised he is in town early. He updates her that he and Ally are at the Horton house. Kate suggests they have dinner together. She misses him. Lucas is distant. He replies they will have time to catch up later. - Alone at the mansion, Kate reminds herself to focus on the problems at hand instead of feeling sorry for herself. She proceeds to go through the remaining contents of Maddie's safety deposit box ... - Back at Horton house, Sami and Steph look at an old photo album, remembering Alice. Sami now talks Nath. Steph assures her she is over Phillip and Nathan is her future,. She adds she had to fight for him and she is not giving up the fight! Sami grins. Lucas, Ally, and Nath reappear in the living room. Sami and Lucas take Ally into the kitchen to get a sandwich. Nath tells Steph that he is sure Alice smiled after he informed her this is the happiest he has ever been in his life. He credits Steph. She is moved, They kiss. - On the pier, Madeline warns Stefano she made copies of that tape. He is nonplussed. She wants the contents of her safety deposit box or else. The phoenix warns the judge that her blackmailing days are over. "I'm holding all the cards now!" He paid for her law school education and how did she show her gratitude! He accuses her of trying to destroy him. She reacts strangely. What does he think she did? He growls he is referring to the fact that she tried to blackmail him. What the hell did she think he meant! She evades the question. They should go back to how things were before. She admits she made a mistake. She claims she was not thinking clearly. He has her tape, so now give her back the rest of her things. Then they are square. He agrees they can put this whole sordid affair behind them ... - Back at the mansion, Kate eventually opens Madeline's envelope and reads the paper inside. "Oh my God ...!" Next on Days of Our Lives "I'm not ready to say goodbye," Jennifer sadly tells Laura. "Stefano can't possibly know about this!" gasps Kate. "Do you not want to marry me?" Chloe asks Dan. |
