He has her on his mind and she assures him she is good. She is relieved to be home. The kids are with Caroline, who was discreet and did not let them grill her about what was going on. Sami knows not how long she will be able to keep this from people. Rafe believes the results will be good. She is the strongest person he knows! Sami sighs she used to work at the hospital and suspects it is taking long as there is something wrong. Rafe tries to disperse her doubts and talks distraction. He boasts he is in good with the owner of the new Italian restaurant in town. The first meal is on him! Sami giggles and calls him agent distractor. He promises when Lexie calls, it will be good news. Sami kisses him and steps away to get her purse. The pair soon start to walk out ... - Lexie stresses over a file in her office. Abe joins her and admits he is worried about the attacker, who has not been caught. They need to get him before another woman is hurt. He wonders if Lexie has some time, but she laments she has to prepare to give a patient some bad news. He is sorry. She hates this part of being a doctor. Abe reassures her with a hug. - Kate promises to get out of EJ's way at the mansion. He airily asks about her meeting with Victor Kiriakis. She is shocked he knew about it and assumes he had her followed. EJ already knows he turned her down flat. Kate calls the Greek tycoon a stubborn old man with no vision. But EJ warns her that Victor has an ability to spot a profitable deal. Those numbers show her idea was first rate. Vic must therefore be withholding his support, as he has ulterior motives. Does Kate have any idea what he might have up his sleeve? She takes a drink and suggests her stepson enlighten her. EJ feels they should stay a step ahead of Victor. She needs his help, he declares, and advises her to call corporate, to let them know he has approved funding for the Countess Wilhelmina transaction. Kate observes him with a pair of cat-like eyes ... - At the house of Kiriakis, Victor has just finished telling Brady his plan and Brady agrees it is a better idea. Victor gloats he will put Countess Wilhelmina out of business before they even begin! Nicole clears her throat, standing in a hot pink teddy. Victor snaps at her. Nicole teases Brady she was unable to sleep and goes back upstairs. Victor grumbles he knows a name for women like that and he wants her out of the house pronto! Brady defiantly refuses. Victor suspects she has gotten under his skin again, like a leach. And what of Nicole's seedy track record! Brady reminds him of his own. Victor barks at him to do something about this situation! - Quinn approaches Taylor at the Cheatin Heart, where she is shooting pool. He grins he has something to tell her and she will want to hear this! He is shutting down his business due to the attacks. Tay is impressed and wants to know when he is leaving town too. He drawls he is not going anywhere. "Quel dommage!" she sighs (what a pity) and starts to leave. He stops her and explains he understands why she is upset with him. However, he has changed and will be protecting the women who trust him. Tay leers he is a noble pimp. He insists he is doing what is right for a change, partly thanks to her. She bitterly wonders what his angle is. He implores her to look him in the eye and promises her he is sincere, but Tay has her own opinion ... - Chloe awaits her john at the pier all alone, as the attacker raises his weapon. Chloe looks at her phone, which is snatched from her hand. Tis her date Elliott, hoping that she did not call his cell, as he left it in another pocket. Chloe suggests they go and he addresses her as Lola. They walk off together, the man in black watching from behind the crate. - Dr. Lexie summons Sami and Rafe to her office. When they arrive, Lexie admits some abnormalities were found. They are not sure what it means. The tests have been run twice. Rafe points out the tests are still inconclusive but Sami thinks otherwise. "I have cancer, don't I?" - In the hotel room, Elliott gets dressed and gives Chloe some extra money. He wonders how she wound up in this oldest profession. She admits she just wanted a nice life and screwed up everything. He is sorry about all the personal questions. She does not mind and tells him she was once an opera singer, as she puts her earrings back on. She also used to be married to a doctor, who has no idea what she is doing. No one can know! Elliott did not wish to upset her. Chloe laments she hates this job, but it is all for her son, so she can have him in her life. She tells him the story of how she lost custody of Parker. He is sorry. She adds she has a lawyer who is helping her gain joint custody. Elliott warns her to be careful and mentions the serial attacker. He apologizes after calling her a prostitute, wishes her luck with her son, and departs. But Chloe's luck is about to run out ... - Tay accuses Quinn of not changing. He drawls she knows deep down who he is, though he is unable to stop her when she walks out. Outside Tay runs into Abe, who wonders if everything is alright. She glances at the window, where Quinn stands, wistfully watching. - Back at the hospital, Lexie explains to Rafe and Sami they do not have anything definite. They will do more tests from the samples and she has also contacted an oncologist for a consult. Sami gasps then it is cancer. Lexie states it could still be something else. She understands that waiting is the worst part. The pair must not, however, jump to any premature conclusions. Rafe talks second opinion. Lexie talks a second and third one. Sami pouts she simply cannot have cancer, as her kids need her. Rafe insists they can still beat it, even if she has cancer. Lexie cannot give odds, though there is always hope. Sami already knows that, for she never gives up. Lexie will get the tests done so the results will be ready soon. Rafe asks about the specialist. He is in Chicago and is one of the top in his field. Rafe thanks her for getting the best. Lexie must head to the ER, but asks Sami to call if she has questions or concerns. Sami thanks her for being a good friend. Lexie now offers some advice, as a friend. She thinks she should reach out to Marlena. She would want to help. Exit Lexie. Sami starts to cry as Rafe holds her close. She jumps up and screams this is not fair. Rafe assures her she probably does not have cancer. She wishes she could have grace under fire, like him. He points out Johnny made it because they refused to give up. He vows he will not let this hurt her. They will beat it together, Sami looks into his eyes with the utmost trust. - Back at DiMera mansion, EJ informs Kate this is no ploy. She is not so sure he would approve funding for her project and is not pleased at the notion of sharing the company she wants. EJ points out Victor turned her down and she is his only hope. Kate reminds him she owns Hearth and Home and could get investors to help her buy Countess Wilhelmina. She wants her autonomy. EJ retorts she begged him for the money before. Nothing is as good as family equity. She can run her little company and they will share the profits. Kate considers. This offer has come out of left field. He replies it is indeed genuine and extends his hand. Kate decides there must be a few conditions. If she accepts the financing, she and she alone must retain daily control of the company. Bemused EJ drawls he has no interest in the daily happenings of a cosmetics company. He is only interested in quarterly profits, and gives her his word his flunkies will not interfere. He extends his hand again. They shake on it. Kate is still concerned she has made a pact with the devil. EJ teases the devil would not help her as much! She wants to touch base with her lawyer and waltzes out of the room. EJ now places a call and orders his person to put through the transaction, but to also secretly watch the lady like a hawk ...
