DANGEROUS DECISIONS

- Mel must deal with needy Chad wanting to run away together forever. She starts to tease, then realizes he is serious about leaving Salem. He wants an answer and argues they could live anywhere. Mel accuses him
of being dishonest. This whole proposal is all about running away from Nick!
- Hope greets Bo at the pub with a kiss and assumes he is making their grocery list. In fact, he is making a list of possible jobs including his police background. Hope thinks they all sound dull. He talks expertise and experience having meaning. Hope shows him an article from a magazine about older men changing their careers to live their dreams. He should therefore do something he truly desires. Abe enters with Theo and the friends warmly greet each other. Abe had heard about Bo’s decision, but Bo explains he still has some  thinking to do. Theo wanders off to Nick, who is clearing off a nearby table. Nick smiles hello and extends a hand, introducing himself to the lad. Abe ushers his boy away fast. Nick stares.
- The coffee house is a busy place. Rafe gets off the phone with Nicole, after assuring her they will be fine, and approaches Gabi, who walked by him without saying hello. She admits she did not see him sitting there.
She has girl stuff on her mind. Rafe is curious. So is she. She wants to know about that bruise on his forehead.  Rafe confesses her got into a fight with EJ. He sighs there was a bad history between them. It was not about the children, so Gabi can only assume it was about Sami. Rafe denies caring. However, she and EJ are toxic together and the idea of them together was more than he could handle, hence the fight. Gabi feels if he were interested in Sami, it would be a good thing. She is the same person he fell in love with. Rafe quips that is part of the problem. Gabi insists the happiest she ever saw him was when he was with Sami. Rafe cannot help but grin.
- At Sami's, Lucas hands her Ally’s knapsack, advising her to keep the drama to a minimum. Sami wonders what he means. Lucas gets sarcastic about the fight over her between the cop and the criminal. Sami claims
it was not even about her! He gets more sarcastic, then agrees maybe
they did not care. He certainly doesn’t. She thinks he is being mean but
he just wants her to be clear that he is no longer interested. Lucas accuses her of being scared of being alone. Sami denies it and wonders whether
he has compared notes with Rafe lately. Lucas reminds her that her big abandonment issues are legendary. She talks children and asks if he has spoken to Will lately. Lucas would rather not engage in any meaningful discussion. He yells he is not interested in her and he means it. He grew sick and tired of her shenanigans. Sami takes it all in. She wonders if guys ever say they are not interested when they really are. Lucas now calls her unbelievable. Why would she assume she is so unique? She is not the
only person who can play games, others do it. He grumbles he has had quite enough and takes off. Ext Lucas. Sami thinks about what he said.
- Brady arrives at the mansion and informs Maggie he just heard about Chad and Mel being engaged. Enter Victor and he snaps the girl has lost her mind, getting married to a DiMera! They cannot let her marry that punk! Brady agrees and wishes Maggie could talk some sense into her. Maggie is unusually calm. Victor suspects she is secretly hoping Mel will come to the right decision on her own. She is indeed. Victor argues they all know Mel is making a mistake. And he can end this fiasco with one phone call. Maggie orders him to put the phone down. Victor phones his man with a job but Maggie ends the call. “I said stop!” She proceeds to lecture him. Victor is exasperated. What changed to make them rush? Brady thinks it is Nick Fallon. Maggie suspects it too. She could not discuss this issue with Mel as she was upset. Brady departs to have a word with Chad, in an attempt to slow things down. Victor wants to go
as well but Maggie insists he stay behind. She stops him from making a call again and departs with a kiss, on her way to Mel.
- Meanwhile Chad reasons he only wants to be with Mel and protect her. She retorts it is not his job, yet he feels it is and wants to avoid anything like Andrew happening again. She assures him there was nothing he could have done. Chad flashes back to Gabi claiming he could have prevented the situation with Andrew from happening. Back to reality. Mel insists he had nothing to do with any of it. Chad emotionally declares that he loves her so much. She now asks about the pretty wrapped gift he got her. She opens it and gushes over the pretty scarf. Chad receives a text he believes to be about meeting Sonny and explains he must get to the coffee house. Mel is busy herself, as she has wedding arrangements to make. He kisses her, repeats he loves her, and is gone. Mel blinks back the tears. Chad stands outside the door, not sure what to do.
- Kate gets off her phone at the town square and spies Sami, who is in no mood to chat. That does not deter Kate, who taunts her nemesis about
the conditions of her overseas factories being criticized on the internet. Many sources claim there will even be an investigation into many labor law violations. Sami becomes flustered. But she would know if that were happening with Countess W. Rafe watches and listens from the shadows. Kate points out she would certainly not want that kind of attention. Rafe now comes to stand by Sami and agrees. He warns Kate that she should worry too for such bad publicity could come back to bite her in the butt!
- Chad is at the coffee house. Brady saunters in and informs him he got Sonny to text him as he wanted a word. Chad is not pleased to hear he is against him and Mel getting married so fast. He claims the wrong person found Mel in the tunnels and rescued her. Brady stops him from leaving and demands to know what he means. Chad snaps if Brady had not been in the tunnels, maybe he would have been able to save Madison!
- Maggie arrives for a visit with Mel. She questions whether the bride-to-be is marrying in haste for the right reasons. Mel insists she is in love but becomes testy when the redhead mentions Nick’s name.
- At the pub, Nick is glumly walking out as Gabi walks in. He has decided to take his break.  She wonders whether he is alright and hopes Chad did not return. He did not. Friendly Gabi offers to keep him company but Nick explains he needs some time alone and heads out. Meanwhile, Abe informs Bo and Hope he is heading up a committee to help rebuild those who were hardest hit by the explosions. He has a meeting at Cameron’s. Hope is impressed. It is a cause he believes in. He now tells Bo he feels
it will be a loss if he opts to leave the department. Bo thanks him and the two men embrace. Exit Abe and Theo. Hope asks if Bo will reconsider. He admits he has no idea what he will do but perhaps the article will help him decide. He recalls how many dreams he had as a wee lad. Cowboy, astronaut, ball player, then he became a cop. It is who he is. Hope notes
it is a job he was passionate about but if he has a dream, he should go for it. “Do something you love.” Bo grins. But the decision he makes today will be extremely DANGEROUS ...
