STARTING OVER ...

- At the coffee house, Lucas and Adrienne talk. He heard what she said. She explains she is sorry for what she said about Will and Sonny, but he does not think she was wrong. He suggests they should talk now since Sonny will not be back for a while. Lucas assumes they feel the same
way - that Will and Sonny should not do it. Do what?  He thinks she knows what he means but she claims she does not know and becomes testy he does not seem to want his son to get involved with hers. They
do not realize that Sonny is in fact at a table nearby, though he is using earphones. Lucas does not understand Adrienne’s problem. She had said Will was wrong for Sonny. She explains it was a kneejerk reaction given all Will’s baggage due to his parents. Lucas gets intense. Will is a great kid! Adrienne did not mean he was not. Lucas now realizes Sonny is in fact present. They decide to go elsewhere to talk.
- At Sami’s place, she complains about Rafe’s about-face. Will points out Sami flip-flopped from EJ to Rafe again. Sami exclaims he led her on and broke her heart again! Will reasons he might have gotten cold feet, given how she goes from him to EJ back to him, etc. And he is probably having a tough time moving past things she assumed he would get over. Sami complains she actually thought they had a chance. Will suggests she may have pushed too hard so perhaps she ought to back off for the time being. Sami glumly mutters there is no point. Rafe made it crystal clear that they are over! Will now questions whether she misunderstood Rafe or a mood he might have been in. After all, such a thing has happened before. Sami considers. What should she do? Will advises her to just go talk to Rafe!
- Meanwhile, unexpected visitor EJ insists on a word with Rafe but Rafe tries to blow him off. EJ warns there are very serious legal issues and his beloved sister will go away for a very long time, unless he is willing to come to a private ... arrangement. Rafe scoffs.
- Gabi is still at the park with lawyer Justin. She laments a friend has already turned against her for what she has done. Justin soon discovers that Chad DiMera is her mortal enemy. He has even more ominous news. There are three very serious charges she could be facing. Obstruction of justice, conspiracy, giving false statements to the police. That would give her ten years in prison. Gabi gasps in horror.
- Brady has come to see Mel. Disheveled Chad answers the door and bitterly snaps she is not there and the wedding is off. He accuses him of being smug, like most of the town. Brady enters and points out he did not say they should break up, only that things were too fast. Chad admits he made mistakes but so did someone else!
- Mel arrives at Dan’s place and informs a shocked Maggie and Dan that she is leaving Salem! Her mom has a business conference in Barcelona. They will meet up and drive around Spain afterwards. It has all been arranged and she has a flight to catch. They hope it is a mere vacation
but Mel cries it is an actual move. She has needed to get away from
Salem for a while ...
- Lawyer EJ haughtily argues his case to Rafe. Andrew confessed on his deathbed to Chad. All he needs is to tell Chad the word GO and he gives the details of that confession to the D.A. It is very admissible.  However … Chad could be prevented from saying anything and Rafe could help his wanton sister reform. EJ grins like a Cheshire cat, now in full blackmail mode. "So what's it going to be?" Rafe forces a smile and requests the punch line. EJ steps forward and smugly leers he must already know
what he seeks for his silence. Rafe doesn’t miss a beat. "Sami!" EJ points out he will keep Gabi out of prison for 20 years or so ... "if you give up Samantha to me!"
- Sami  remembers that Rafe had informed her he was preoccupied. Will is amused. Sami thinks she should really focus on her work. Rafe can come looking for her at the office if he wants to talk. Will presses her to go speak with Rafe. He believes the pair of them need to grow up. She teases he is a relationship expert. He teases he will certainly never do things like her and exits.
- Gabi has a major meltdown as she gasps and cries she did not intend
for anyone to get hurt. Justin reminds her she did lie to the police. The fact that she plotted and there must be evidence of it through messages, etc. is indeed overwhelming. Gabi insists Mel said she would not turn her in. Justin soberly states she could be subpoenaed. In addition, there is Chad, who could also be called to testify. Gabi panics, recalling he is out for her blood!
- Chad states his case to Brady. He thinks Mel should have cut him slack, as no one is perfect. She forgave Nick, so why not him! Brady alludes to different degrees of behavior. Chad convinces himself she will eventually realize all that matters is that he loves her!
- Papa Dan emotionally tells Mel he will miss her, though he believes she will be back. She throws her arms around him and cries of course she
will. Maggie tries to blink back her tears.
- At the town square, Lucas assures Adrienne he is not attacking her son. It is just that Sonny is experienced, unlike Will, and he feels the guys are moving too fast. He even saw them kissing! Adrienne gets sarcastic. She goes on to accuse him of being uncomfortable with Will being gay.
Meanwhile, Will stands nearby and stares, unseen, having overheard!
- Rafe saunters up to EJ and then stops. Seated EJ knows he loves his sister as well as Samantha. He smirks the time has come to choose.
"Who matters most to you ...?" They are about to get an unexpected interruption ...
