Mama Viv wonders what has distracted him. The baseball game comes back. Viv coos about him helping her destroy the person who killed his cousin. Quinn suddenly decides he has a business meeting and takes off. He returns to his room, which is now empty, and sighs. Carly is gone. - Carly is alone outside, crying over what she now remembers to be true. All the flashbacks of Jen and family learning about her drug problem race through her mind. Back to reality. A pathetic junkie offers her a hit for twenty bucks, his hands shaking. Carly sits down, crying. - At Maggie's bedside, Victor promises her that he will prevent this from happening again! He walks out and interrupts Daniel, who is with Jen and Mel. The Greek tycoon wants the redhead transported to his home immediately. Dr. Dan explains she should not be moved, as she had internal bleeding. Victor growls he does not want her to be around this place in case the assassin comes back to finish off the job. Jen suggests he get a private security company involved. Mel righteously adds he is part of the family who is to blame for the mess. Hope arrives on scene and sympathizes with Victor. Dan drawls they can talk further when the redhead is strong enough to be moved. Lexie approaches Jen and warns the board saw that picture of Carly and they are up in arms! Next time she wants to help her friend, she should not use the hospital's name or they will both be out of a job! Jen stares in disbelief. She accuses Lexie of threatening to fire them to save her own job. Lexie points out Dr. Manning was using drugs. She advises Jen to go on the air and announce that the hospital has a zero tolerance policy, so Carly is now officially being relieved of her duties. Jen flat out refuses and quits on the spot. - Victor returns to Maggie's room, where Mel is crying. He is sorry he was bossy before. She understands it is his way and is sorry she reacted like she did. She knows this was the last thing he wanted. When Maggie is better, she can go to his house and recuperate, Vic thinks that sounds like a perfect plan. Near the nurse's station, Hope is ready to go and Jen decides to go with her, as she now has plenty of time to spare. Mel asks Lexie what just happened. Lexie suggests she ask her and walks off. Dan is baffled. "What the hell is going on now?" - Down at the pier, Abigail pulls away from Chad. He points out he is flesh and blood of EJ and Stefano and it means so much to him. That is why he must stand by his family. Dmitri observes. Abigail is upset, as no one at the mansion is safe. Sonny comes along and Chad enlightens him on Abigail's concern. Dmitri frowns, recognizing Sonny Kiriakis! Sonny suggests Chad lie low and touches him. Chad pushes his hands away. Dmitri overreacts and fires a shot! - At DiMera mansion, Kate updates Stefano, having spoken to a contact at the hospital. Victor has not left Maggie Horton's side since her surgery. Stefano is not surprised. She senses he is very worried about retaliation. Indeed. And where are Chad and EJ ...? - Nicole walks back to Brady at the house of Kiriakis and asks what Dmitri wanted when he called. Permission. For what? Brady gets testy and will only say that he has him tailing people, to make sure there will be no retaliation. Nicole tries to get close to him and suggests they help each other with a little distraction. Brady steps away and she bitterly wonders if he is worried about Taylor. He nervously states he is worried about everything! - Tay and EJ meet up outside the pub. She warns the lying has to stop. He sighs and agrees. He admits that Chad spoke the truth. He was not responsible for the shooting that hurt Maggie, he just wanted to keep Taylor at bay, for her own protection. He adds why is she still hanging around, given all the opportunities he gave her to leave! Tay shakes her head. This is not about her walking away from him. He drawls it should be. She, however, will not allow him to give up on himself. He insists she deserves someone better than him. She retorts what if she is not any better? Perhaps she is more like him than he suspects! A sound is heard. EJ pulls her aside and wonders what that was.T'was the drug addict, who asks for some change. EJ gets rid of him. He is very concerned about Taylor's safety in these perilous times ... They suddenly hear the gunshot and EJ races toward it, only to find his younger brother. Chad is lying down, gasping, blood all over his shoulder. Abigail and Sonny are beside themselves. EJ tries to attend to him. He then picks up his phone, telling Stefano, who has just called, "They got him fatha!" - Back at the mansion, Stefano covers his face with a hand and collapses in the chair, distraught. Kate is at his side in an instant. - Back at the club, Viv opens the newspaper, only to see a composite of Quinn. She wonders. Perhaps that was why he ran off ... - Quinn finds Carly huddled in the alley and asks what happened. She cries her family know and also someone she knows knocked on his door. That was when things came crashing down. Quinn is concerned. Has she been alone since then? She explains a man offered her drugs. She did not take them, though she thought about it. "I need help," she sobs. She tells him of seeing her sad daughter on TV, but not being able to bring herself to call. She needs rehab and implores him to help her. Quinn reassuringly squeezes her shoulder and promises he will help her. He does not realize that Vivian has been watching the scene through the fence! Viv silently vanishes lest she be spotted. Quinn helps Carly to her feet and assures her she must go to her family. - Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Dmitri calls Brady, who is still with Nicole. "It's done!" - Chad is gasping in pain. EJ decides there is not enough time for an ambulance. He calms down his brother and helps him get to his feet. Tay takes out her phone. - At the hospital, Mel informs Dr. Dan that a walk-in is being brought in and they are bypassing the ER. Tis a gunshot wound. Lexie is worried. - EJ wants the rest of the gang to go home and lock their doors as he escorts his brother away. Abigail will not be dismissed and helps him take Chad into the hospital. When they enter, Mel assures her he will be fine. The doctors take Chad off to be treated. Victor approaches EJ, whose shirt has been stained with blood. "Is that what I think it is?!" - Back at DiMera mansion, Stefano warns his beloved Kate to stay put, kisses her, and departs, shaking his first that they are now coming after his children ...! - Hope is with Jen at the police station, ready to talk Carly ...
