FATHER KNOWS BEST!

- In her hospital room, Maggie snaps at Viv to get out as she lifts a red rose. Enter Victor. "Do you have a death wish!" Vivian is nonplussed. Maggie confronts Victor and asks him to tell her it is not true that Brady and Phil were involved in keeping Viv in that coffin! The Greek tycoon would rather not discuss the matter in Viv's presence. Madame Viv makes a snide remark. Maggie implores him to tell her it ain't so. Vic sighs they felt that leaving Vivian in the sarcophagus  was the only way to keep Maggie safe. The redhead is dismayed he did such an unholy thing in her name and orders him out. She never wants to see him again!
Also at the hospital, tired Mel is reunited with Phil. They embrace. When she mentions how helpful Nath was, he flashes back to what he saw -
how close she was with Nath in the quarantine room. However, he says nothing. They head home together. Meanwhile, Nathan and Steph share their own reunion. She begs him to promise that she will never lose him.
She apologizes for being so needy and clings to his arm. Nath remembers exchanging I love you's with Mel and confesses something happened in quarantine that he must tell her! Steph gets worried. "What happened?"  Before he can answer, nurse Maxine appears with a hug and talk of how much praying there was going on. And if he is up for it, an elderly patient would like to see him. Mrs. Lang does not have much time left.
- Tired Dan arrives home to the apartment. Chloe is upset that the baby is crying. There must be something wrong, says she! Dan has later gotten
the baby to calm down and reassures his beloved. Parker might have been colicky. Chloe doubts herself as a mother. He understands why she was
so stressed out and comforts her. All of a sudden, he smells something burning. So much for Chloe's attempt at homemade lasagna! Dan offers takeout and tries to make her feel better. She just wanted to welcome her hero husband. He breathes there is no need to cook a damn thing, in that case, and they start to kiss ...
- Relay of Stefano kicking Kate out. She opens the door to leave, only to find Chad! Stefano invites Chad in, tells Katherine goodbye. "Good luck," bitterly says teary-eyed Kate. "You're going to need it!" Chad wonders what that was about. Stefano offers him a drink. The lad presses. The phoenix will say only that they had a little disagreement. Knock knock!
Tis Dr. David Milbauer with their secret paternity test results. Stefano thanks him for venturing to his home and cordially introduces him to Chad, a young man who also has a vested interest in the outcome. He glances at the DNA paper Milbauer hands him and asks what it means. The doctor drops a bomb. "The results are positive. You are father and son!" Chad is stunned. The phoenix gets choked up with emotion by the news that he has another heir. He hands the doc an envelope of payment for his time, kindness, and discretion. Once they are alone, Chad asks what they do now. Stefano smiles like the cat that just swallowed the canary. He has been giving it much thought. "I know just what I want to do!" he says pleasantly. Chad's eyes are filled with apprehension. Stefano had heard his father refused to pay for Wake Forest college, which he wished to attend, so he writes him a hefty check for tuition and expenses. Chad misunderstands and assumes he just wants to get rid of him. The phoenix patiently explains. "You are my son. You're a DiMera now and a DiMera never turns blood away. Never!" He will pay for any university
he wants. And if he wishes to remain in Salem, he need only go upstairs and choose his bedroom. He will just have to fill in his other children. They will understand. They already know how he feels about family. He adds if Chad would rather to work at DiMera Enterprises, he can learn
the business from the bottom up. He hands him the card of his tailor. "You get a suit!" He now wants to figure out a time for his new son to move in. Chad angrily tears up the card. "How about never!" Stefano
folds his arms. "What's the problem?" Chad blurts out this is what Will said would happen. The phoenix chuckles about William. Chad notes he calls people by their proper names and hopes he will not start calling him Chadsworth. He accuses the DiMeras of keeping Will's mom from her kids. The phoenix points out he only knows one side to that story. Chad remains defiant and snaps he already hates the only family he had, why would he need another! The phoenix would like to know why he came over waving his birth certificate, in that case. Chad retorts he is sick of
the lies and because of those lies, they did not get to have any time with his deceased daughter Grace. Stefano suddenly becomes quiet. Chad laments he was not told Mia was pregnant and he only found out when Grace was gone. "Like father like son." The phoenix suggests this could
be a fresh start for them. Chad recalls how his mother lied about his age, kept him away from Stefano, and shipped him off to boarding school.
And Grace deserved better than she had. The phoenix asks if they could grieve for Grace together. He can give Chad everything in the world he wants. "I know all about you," retorts Chad, his eyes filled with tears. He does not want to become another EJ. All the DiMeras do is take. "I won't let you take me!" Stefano gives him an intense look. "Son, what if I tell you that you don't have a choice?"
- Phil gets Mel home. He tucks her into bed and reminds her the doc said it would take time to recover. Meanwhile, she needs to take the medicine and he will wait on her hand and foot. He assures his wife she can have anything she wants. Mel thinks of kissing Nath and looks wistful. Phil offers her takeout from anywhere in the world that her heart desires. Mel wants to go see Maggie, assuming she is in the hospital due to a relapse. Phil reluctantly agrees they can go back to the hospital ...
- Mel noisily enters Maggie's hospital room with Phil. She asks Maggie what happened. Did she stop taking her medicine? The redhead suggests she go see Maxine, in case she has something for pain. Meanwhile, Phil can stay and talk to her. Exit Mel. Phil wonders if something is wrong. Maggie explains she knows what he did to Vivian. "I know everything!" Phil's face gets tense. He was protecting his family from a woman who wanted to harm them. She thinks he sounds like his father and points out what he, Victor, and Brady did was wrong. He begs to differ. She orders him to tell Mel the truth. Enter Mel. "The truth about what?" Once they leave Maggie's room, Phil explains what Vivian did to Maggie. He updates Mel on the whole sordid sarcophagus business, including Viv's plan and what Brady did. Mel shakes her head. Was there no other option? She also wonders why Maggie was upset at him. Phil drawls "I found out that Vivian was inside the coffin and I didn't do anything to get her out." Mel takes it all in and sighs. Phil admits he could not bring himself to let her out. Mel grins she sure gets it. She sits on his lap  it and they hug. She forgives him!
- Victor comes upon Viv down at the pier and growls it is tempting if she stands so close to the edge! She sighs where did they go wrong. He only wishes he had let Bo kill her! Viv suggests they can make things right. He is miffed she thinks they could make a go of it and grabs her by the wrist, edging closer and closer. She staggers back. He snaps he will spend the rest of his life paying her back for what she did and starts to give her a shove. Viv screams. He pulls her back and drawls he cannot have her falling in the river after they cleaned it up. He reminds her that 5 people felt she deserved to be in the sarcophagus! That should tell her something. Viv turns venomous. "I'm going to have my revenge on the whole pack
of you!" She storms off. The Greek tycoon makes a call on his phone. "Meet me at the pier now." Kate shows up and he thanks her for coming. They discuss the wrath of Viv. Victor hopes their son Phillip will look out for himself. Kate realizes Victor is worried. He laments this time Vivian has time to work out the fine points of her plan - and he suspects she will not fail. She might even go underground at first, to make them complacent before she strikes. He wants to put a bodyguard on Kate. She turns him down. He mentions Stefano, then deduces from her reaction that she and the phoenix have had a falling out of sorts.
- Back at the hospital, the elderly patient who is near the end is happy to see Dr. Nath before she returns home. She mentions her dearly departed husband. However, he was not her soul mate. She did love him, though. Has he found his soul mate? Nath flashes back to kissing Mel. "Yes, I have." She cherishes the time she had with her husband. A soul mate is not everything. She and her husband had a wonderful life. Steph later catches up with Nath and he tells her how wise his patient was. She asks what he wanted to tell her earlier. Nath declares he realized he needed to get better so he could spend the rest of his life with her! They kiss. He now tells her he just found out his grandmother was admitted. Steph will wait as he goes to check on her. He likes the sound of that, kisses her,
and walks out. Once alone, Steph assures herself he will survive knowing the truth about Chloe and Phil, after what he just got through. She makes a call to Caroline. "Grandma, it's Stephanie. Call me back as soon as you get this. It's really important."
- Gus and Madame Viv confer at the pub. She calls it a glorious morning. He is curious about her new plan. She whispers she has a plan to get even with Victor and company. And it is devilishly clever! After hearing it (the viewers do not), Gus is amazed. It is indeed brilliant, but how will she be able to pull it off? She insists they will see!
- Back at DiMera mansion, Stefano informs his son that his blood flows through his veins, so there is no way for him to escape the family. "Watch me!" drawls Chad and opens the living room doors, making his grand departure. The phoenix slowly shakes his head ...
- Down at the pier, Kate refuses to discuss Stefano and brings up Viv again. Victor dramatically declares he will take out Vivian before she strikes. "I am not going to let anything happen to my family and that includes you!" Stefano steps out of the shadows, solemnly observing the pair ...!

"I am afraid that you have lost all rights, Officer Brady!" the warden angrily tells Hope.
"Leave and don't come back," Maggie orders Victor.
Viv faces the phoenix. "You have been made a damned fool of, Stefano!"
