Chanel sighs it was a simple procedure to remove some cells. Mama worries it was cancer ... Marlena is delighted to hear the procedure went well. She gathers Paulina was not informed ... Chanel explains to Mama there were a few potentially cancerous cells she needed removed and Kayla gave her a clean bill of health. Paulina is relieved and reasons these days there are so many excellent treatments saving lives ... Sophia hears from Tate that Chanel and Johnny would love to adopt her baby. She is happy, but notes he did not tell her yesterday, then realizes it was Valentine's Day. He admits he told Holly first and she cannot help but feel a bit bitter ... - Holly gushes she had a very romantic Valentine date with Tate. Maggie was worried that young Doug might come between them ... Meanwhile young Doug moons over his words of love to Holly and shuts his eyes like a tormented poet. Julie wonders what has him so distracted ... Paulina absentmindedly touches the pearls around her neck. Chanel shares her hope to have a baby with Johnny. Alas after a checkup Kayla discovered the minor problem. Time will tell ... Meantime they have decided to adopt ... Johnny assures concerned Marlena that things are perfect between him and Chanel. Matter of fact fate brought them what he believes to be the right couple. Marlena stares when she hears he and Chanel would be adopting her grandson Tate's child ... - Tate apologizes for not telling Sophia before Holly. She accepts that and agrees Johnny and Chanel sound great. Alas her old fashioned mom might feel otherwise ... When Maggie mentions Julie's wonderful Doug, Holly gets tense. The redhead senses something. Holly admits new Doug declared his feelings for her ... Julie is so grateful to have gotten Doug's poetry back but blames herself for Alice's necklace disappearing under her watch. Young Doug's face falls. He suggests she blame the thief. She regrets blaming brother Steven and happily reads the letter he recently wrote. He swore on the memory of Tom and Alice he did not steal that necklace! She suggests other scenarios. Doug wonders whether she thinks he did it again ... Holly tells Maggie all about young Doug's romantic declaration of feelings for her. Sophia updates her meddling mother on the great couple who would like to adopt her and Tate's baby. Sophia wants names. Tate's cousin Johnny and his lovely wife Chanel, both from prominent families. Amy has not seen those names at the church. Sophia states they attend a different church but are committed to bible studies. They would be perfect. Tough customer Sophia demands nothing but the best. Tate bites his lip ... - Marlena has high praise for Johnny and Chanel as future parents and points out religion is not everything. Johnny sighs Sophia's mother is strict about such things. Marlena believes it would be a plus to keep the baby in the family. Johnny grins they are just at the beginning stages. The blonde wishes him the best of luck however he decides ... Paulina points out tis sometimes tough keeping an adoption in the family. It was hard for her all the years she had to pretend she was Lani's aunt when she was the real mother. Chanel explains she and Johnny will have no secrets from their child and adds Sophia wants to go to college soon. Paulina still feels it could be too complicated. As always the wise woman has her daughter's best interests at heart ... - Strict Amy asks to meet Chanel and Johnny today. Tate will arrange the lunch date and be in touch. Amy goes on her sanctimonious way. Tate warns Sophia she overdid it with the bible study story ... Johnny arrives at Chanel's room with Marlena and flowers for his beautiful wife, who has been discharged and feels fine. Marlena wants to celebrate when the adoption goes through. Johnny gets the text about dinner ... Holly admits to Maggie she does love Tate and wants to be at his side. The redhead wonders how she would feel if the adoption did not happen. Holly believes she could work together with Sophia and Tate ... Doug truly feels for Julie about the necklace. She wonders about the cabin with Holly. He chuckles he heft after Tate arrived. Julie steps away to get ready for her trip to the store .... - Marlena and Paulina discuss the recent decision of Johnny and Chanel to adopt. Paulina hesitates.
