IT HAS BEGUN ...!

- At the town square, Gabi wants frantic Chad to take a break from flyer duty. Cam, Abigail, and Sonny approach, explaining they have already
put up all of the flyers. They shares Gabi’s view that Chad needs to take
it easy but he insists he will destroy the party who abducted Mel. Gabi anxiously flashes back to her mischief, the consequences that followed. The gang sit with beverages at the café and go over the recent events, the fact that the kidnapper is also Gabi’s stalker. Abigail points out he did not abduct Gabi, which makes no sense. Gabi gets defensive and upset. Cam explains they are just trying to put the pieces together. Gabi realizes that and claims she and Mel are fortunate to have such loyal friends. Abigail repeats it makes no sense. She seems to have inherited her journalistic parents’ ability to chase down leads only when they are the right ones.  Sonny wonders whether Gabi’s stalker might have thought Mel knew something. They all start to ask Gabi if she can think of anything. Abigail asks about the doll he planted in front of her door. Gabi snaps she threw
it out and accuses them of acting like Mel vanishing is all her fault! Little do they know that it actually is …
- Bo and Hope are at an empty house which is now a designated crime scene. They meet the sister of their suspect’s landlady, who laments
he seemed so nice. Turns out the name he used was George Compton. Hope takes a look at his rental application and heads to the station to run his social security number through the database.  Bo talks to the landlady, who has not seen him a while. She hopes he is not dangerous. So does Bo. Hope soon returns with news for Bo - George died at the age of 92, so the kidnapper is using a stolen identity. This does not look good for Mel. Bo points out the longer she is missing, the less chance they will
have of finding her.

Deep in the Salem underground …
Mel sits in her dark labyrinth chained to a pipe. She is scared and smells gas. Masked Andrew - who has been using the name George - bears a
gift. Tis a teddy bear, just as she said she liked when she was in Paris
and Trent was mean. Mel is stunned he has been listening. Her obsessed stalker explains he cares about everything about her! Mel calmly thanks him and praises him for caring, possibly even more than Chad. Andrew is suspicious, as he assumed she loved Chad. Mel now pretends things were not always great with Chad. He wonders what she means. She woefully states that he should have figured out she was missing sooner. Andrew earnestly notes if she was his, he would never let her disappear even for
a day! Mel implores him to let them go elsewhere . He does not agree.
All of a sudden, the tunnel starts to cave in beside them. Mel helps him
get out of the way. She sincerely hopes he will listen to her now!
- Sami is sitting at EJ’s computer at the mansion. She flashes back to his seductive reminder of how they are drawn to one another, how he almost got her to kiss him, and then pulled away, smug with his confirmation. She blinks and sighs. Enter EJ. “Surprised you’re still here!” he muses
She has work to do. He gets testy about her using his laptop. She explains she is trying to save his life! She stands up, admits she was indeed about to leave, but then heard his email alert and assumed it was about the surveillance footage. She was right! EJ accuses her off hacking into his computer, then sits down beside her and notes he needs answers to who killed his fatha. It proves to be a tedious search for the exact footage they require, but they forge on. EJ teases Lucas would not approve. He puts his head closer to hers.
- Replay of Lucas handing Rafe the damning letter, Rafe feasting his eyes on the contents. He is shocked EJ is not Stefano’s son. Will races in and stares at the scene in dismay. Rafe demands to know how Lucas came
by Alice’s letter. Will steps up and states his dad stole it from him. Rafe wants to know what he was doing with it. Will admits he himself stole it from the mansion. Rafe decides this could be the final nail in suspect EJ’s coffin. Roman and Spencer are soon brought into the dramatic discussion. Roman says damn. Spencer wonders when EJ learned of the existence of the letter. Will lies he does not think EJ ever saw it but Lucas quips his son is just covering for him. Roman agrees. It is all making sense now. This must have been the letter Stefano got from the safety deposit box with Bo and Hope. EJ killed Stefano before he could change his will! ISA Spencer is not so sure but Rafe reminds him of the failed polygraph. The next step is to check if EJ and Stefano even have compatible blood types. Time to consult with the hospital … Will and Lucas soon find themselves alone. “How could you betray me like that!” rages Will. Lucas reasons
he was protecting him. Will reminds him he had everything under control. Lucas realizes he was blackmailing his boss, but he was in reality playing
a dangerous game. Will accuses him of ruining everything. Lucas insists the evidence was already piling up against EJ, who failed the polygraph. Will wishes he had at least given him a heads up before he took action. Lucas righteously informs him he did not approve of the influence EJ
was exerting in his life. The power went completely to his head, made
him cocky. Will unhappily retorts his father was half a world away and not there for him. Lucas is sorry. Will now wishes he had stayed in Hong Kong! Lucas sadly admits he should have been there and he was not. However, he is here now and wants him to know that EJ is dangerous.
He is a killer …
- Roman, Spencer, and Rafe wait for the hospital to get back to them. Rafe starts to sense something is not right. Commissioner Brady gets the call from the hospital. “Stefano and EJ’s blood types are not compatible. Alice Horton was right. There is no way they can be father and son!”
- Sami stares at the computer and checks they have the right time, date, and alley. EJ has his arm around her and seems to enjoy the closeness. She is glad they are looking for the proof. For the kids, of course. He smoothly agrees and their eyes lock. Sami glances back at the computer and exclaims he is there! The footage shows EJ dumping his gloves in the alley, a masked man showing up moments later and taking them. They
get a freeze frame to take a closer look. EJ still feels it is not sufficient. Sami, on the other hand, thinks it is more than enough and is eager to contact the police. He solemnly suggests she put the phone down. She
is surprised by his reaction. He reasons they would need to identify the person before going to the cops, whom he does not have much faith in.
- Bo slams the file down in exasperation. Hope understands this kind of case is tough. Bo feels responsible as he promised Carly he would take care of her, and he let the doc down. Hope assures him she is by his side every step of the way and they will solve this together. Hope soon has news for Bo. The station founds a match with the fingerprints. The felon’s name is Cory and he has had a long history of trouble with the law. At 18, he was placed in a mental institution in Boston. Last year he escaped. Bo and Hope fear the mentally unstable young man is capable
of almost anything!
- Abigail implores Gabi to try and remember anything. Mel’s life hangs
in the balance. Gabi loses it and once more accuses them of blaming her. She snaps she did not want her friend to get kidnapped, and leaves the table in a huff. Chad thinks Abigail was too hard on her. Abigail gets
upset so Cam holds her in his arms. Sonny agrees with her opinion that Gabi must know something that could help the case. He suddenly smells gas and goes into the cafe to check if there is some sort of leak in the kitchen, to avert a disaster. Abigail cries to Cam she is scared for Mel. Cam asks what she is like. Abigail explains her friend is smart and funny and beautiful, plus feisty. Cam smiles she sounds like her and hugs her again. Nearby , Gabi hopes Chad does not think she is to blame. She did not want her to get hurt! Chad understands. Bo and Hope suddenly show up with news of the kidnapper. They immediately hand Gabi a mugshot
of their suspect Cory. It is Andrew but she pretends not to recognize him. Chad, however, knows exactly who the guy is!
- Rafe rejoins Spencer and Roman with confirmation of EJ’s prints all over the letter from Alice. He knew fully well he was not Stefano’s son. Commissioner Roman is ready to go arrest the lying son of a bitch. They march out together. Will deduces they intend to arrest EJ and also wants to take off. Roman stops him, relieves him of his phone, and orders him to stay put. Lucas remains with him. Will fears EJ will think he betrayed him. Lucas becomes sidetracked by a business call for a brief moment. When he turns around, Will has gone. He curses and goes after him.
- At the mansion, Sami and EJ are interrupted by the doorbell. He opens the door to Rafe, Roman, and Spencer. “You’re under arrest for the murder of Stefano DiMera,” triumphantly drawls Rafe. EJ appears bored. He suggests they get on with it and turns around. They follow him into
the foyer. Rafe now notices Sami standing inside.
- Mel’s captor feels she is overreacting. The falling dirt and rocks might have been caused by a passing truck. He thanks her for pulling him out
of the way. It seems to have given him hope of their future together. Mel screams there is a gas leak. They must get out before it is too late …!
