Wednesday, July 25, 2012 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! posted on July 23 early afternoon est PRELUDE TO A CLIFFHANGER ... - At the police station conference room, Will eagerly awaits EJ. The cop accompanying the prisoner explains he will soon be back for the suspect’s arraignment. Will informs impatient EJ that his lawyer will meet him at the courthouse. He adds his mom has the footage they need on the flash drive. They are hopeful she has passed it on to his lawyer. EJ notes they will also need to find the person who set him up. Will has confidence in him. EJ is impressed the young man has made progress. He warns that he and his motha will take a great deal of heat for supporting an accused murderer. Will is ready. “Bring it on!” he cockily grins. EJ reminds him he is certainly under no obligation to help him. Will is there as he wants to be. EJ is baffled for he has not been the greatest boss. Will proceeds to give him a pep talk and compares him to a cool older brother who has taught him much about life. EJ is both amused and touched. Will explains friends do not bail on each other in times of need. He stammers EJ was there when he was arrested so now he is returning the favor. He urges him to fight! - An elevator door opens. Out steps crying, dazed Sami with scratches on her face. She has been mugged! She flashes back to promising EJ she would hand the flash drive to his lawyer, her subsequent attack. She leans against the door to her apartment and knocks as much as she can muster. Lucas opens the door and she falls into his arms in tears. He is horrified! What happened? - At the pub, Cam wants to talk about the seating arrangement for the gala with Abigail. She is not confident she will be much help and remains preoccupied with Mel. Her best friend is being held hostage by a psycho! However, this event is important and might keep her sane. He thanks her and touches her hand. She thanks him back and soon completes the entire seating chart. Cam now decides to find the next thing she can do to keep busy. She appreciates the effort but reasons she should keep searching for her friend. Jack and Jen arrive They believe it would be too risky and say so. Jack wants to wait until Bo and Hope have news. Jen informs Cam the programs are ready for the gala and invites him out to her car to approve them. Jack sits with Abigail and remarks he is now playing the role of the dutiful dad. How is she doing? She is a mess! Mel has been there for her and she owes her! Jack assures her she can be there for her when she returns. Abigail thanks him. She could not do this without him. He teases Cam seems to have that covered already. He gets the fatherly concern look. Abigail cannot help but smile. - Replay of Mel in the dark tunnel dialing Chad. He answers in the town square, Gabi at his side. Mel cries it is Melanie! Can he hear her? Hardly. He asks where she is. “In the tunnels under town!” Alas the connection is fuzzy. Brady stops and stares as Chad loudly tries to understand. Gabi tries to pretend it might not really be Mel. The guys dismiss the notion. Meanwhile, down in the dark tunnel, Andrew comes back and grabs away the phone. “What do you think you’re doing!” rages the lunatic. He smashes the phone against the wall, thus destroying their only method of communication with the outside ...Above ground, Chad desperately continues to say hello. He has lost her! He explains to Brady that she mentioned a tunnel. Brady wants to tell the cops. Chad laments there is no time. They must find her now! Below ground, angry Andrew demands Mel tell him just who she was talking to. He suspects it was Chad. Mel cowers. - Lucas puts a big bandage on Sami’s scratched head. He talks hospital but she would rather forget the incident. Lucas insists she at least file a report with the police. He is surprised to hear all that was taken was a flash drive. She was jumped for that?! She stands up and airily calls it a random thing. Lucas stands up too. He is no fool and deduces the mugger must have known she had the flash drive and therefore wanted it. “The question is, what was on it, Sami?” he suspiciously asks, his keen eyes narrowing. She confesses she was helping EJ. Lucas gets sarcastic about her always doing good things for EJ. She exclaims there was footage of a guy taking EJ’s ditched gloves. Lucas reasons he would not have ditched those gloves if he were not guilty. Sami becomes silent. Lucas accuses her of helping the DiMera get away with murder! Sami acts miffed he is trying to tell her what to do. Lucas perceives she is just trying to change the subject. Sami gets herself a glass of orange juice and then sighs when Lucas suggests EJ is getting what he deserves and whoever set him up did them all a big favor! - Back at the station, EJ informs loyal William that he and his motha have been real friends, not to mention the only family he has, other than Johnny and Sydney. It means much. Will concedes he may have done things, but he knows he would never have killed Stefano, whom he loved. EJ agrees he did indeed love the man whom he believed to be his fatha. He almost expects him to show up and take care of this mess. However, this is one he must handle on his own and he appears dismal about that. Will encourages him to keep the faith. The cop returns to escort EJ to his arraignment. - Brady does the math and deduces that Mel is being held in the tunnels under Salem. Chad notes those were the tunnels where Lexie was held, that made her sick. With the map Brady has obtained on his tablet, they are on their way! Gabi promises to call the cops, but instead she tries to reach Andrew's phone. No luck. - Andrew accuses Mel of telling Chad where she was. She claims there was static. He leers she betrayed him. He will never let her leave him. She pleads with him to release her. He roughly shoves her and orders her to start moving. - Jen and Cam are outside the pub and she thanks him for offering to take the programs to Abe. She assures him that his sister Lexie would be so proud of him. Not only does he continue her work at the hospital, but he also watches out for Abe and Theo. Cam grins he is actually in town for other reasons too and blushes when she smiles that he is referring to her daughter. Meanwhile, inside the pub. Abigail cutely makes Jack pinky promise he will not embarrass her with Cameron. He admits he is a tad overprotective as he has not been around enough. He wants the man she spends time with to be worthy of his little girl. He then corrects himself that she is a woman. She smiles she loves him. He tenderly tells her he loves her too. Jen and Cam enter. Jen asks her daughter to merge the guest list with the sponsors list on the computer. No problem. Jack invites Cam to fetch the coffee with him. Jen waits with her daughter, who is concerned her father wants to talk to her guy alone. Jen assures her it will be fine. Abigail is still bothered by her past mistakes, but Jen insists it is different with Cam, who cares for her a great deal. She is certain Jack will not embarrass her. They just want to know him better. Abigail agrees with that idea and praises Cam as a dedicated man. Jen believes any guy who appreciates how incredible her daughter is must be pretty amazing. At the counter, Jack notes that paying for the coffee is the least he can do for someone who spends so much time with his daughter. Cam explains he has feelings for her and hopes he is cool with it. She has spoken of her father and he knows he loves her too. Jack wants her to be happy and find a guy who is not like him. Cam explains he shares his opinion that his daughter is special. Work was the center of his universe until he met her. He would do anything for her! Jack is impressed. - EJ is returned to the station. Will races up, assuming the judge granted him bail and he is a free man. EJ, however, has a long face and laments he is not going anywhere. He complains his lawyer was not present, he sent some bloody upstart kid instead and his bail is so high he cannot even afford to post a bond! Will promises him Sami will fix things with the flash drive. But he is dismayed to hear EJ has no current access to the family fortune, as he is not a DiMera. His small personal reserves are insufficient. EJ thinks his lot is to rot in jail until the trial. Will declares he will find a way to bail him out ... - Sami warns Lucas she intends to help EJ fight for his freedom. Lucas reminds her of how many times he has hurt their family. Sami reasons she is doing this for Johnny and Sydney and reminds Lucas he protected the kids too when he took the heat for Will and went to jail in his place. Lucas feels that fight was a different and noble one. He is convinced she is making a big mistake. Not only for herself, but also for their future! Sami stares. - In the dark tunnels beneath Salem, Andrew cruelly forces feeble Mel to keep walking. Also in the tunnels are our heroes Brady and Chad. They cannot help but notice the gas fumes. Brady consults the map on his tablet and dictates which way they should go. Chad follows closely with a flashlight. Nearby, Mel does not feel well. Andrew shoves her. Back to the heroes. All of a sudden, Chad and Brady run into lone Gabi, who has ventured down to the tunnels, having seen the map Chad wants to know what on earth she is doing there. She wanted to help and came after she left the police a message. Brady is exasperated she did not even talk to the cops directly. Furthermore, he wants her out of danger. Gabi lies she saw Mel and Andrew going down another tunnel. The guys rush in that direction and she slips away. Mel is having trouble breathing as Andrew checks his map. She complains about the fumes. Mel now looks to her left and spies Gabi, who motions for her not to say anything. But her plan is about to go to hell ... - Sami argues to Lucas that she would do the same for him. They are both fathers of her children. Lucas refuses to let the woman he loves defend a guy who has treated her badly. Sami assures him there is no need to be jealous for he and he alone is the man she wants to be with. He asks her to let the cops handle it. She exclaims her dad and Rafe would not be fair. Ring ring! Tis Will, updating her on EJ’s lack of funds for bail. He hopes she can do something. Sami gasps she does not have that kind of money but will see what she can do. Lucas sarcastically wonders whether she plans to dip into the children’s college fund. He accuses her of making her choice. She denies it. He claims actions speak louder than words and storms out. She is unable to stop him. - At the pub, Cam has a couple of coffees to go. He invites Abigail to come deliver the programs with him. She accepts, having just helped Jen merge her lists. The happy couple exit. Jen teases she hopes Jack did not do anything to embarrass their daughter. Jack informs her he approves. This man had the look of someone who is in love with their daughter. It is the same look he had when he realized he was crazy in love with Jen. Jen gushes she loves that look. Jack states he is a lucky man, for he has it all, and it is thanks to one person. “Miss Horton, it’s all because of you.” She giggles it is really because of him and they kiss. Outside, Cam teases worried Abigail that her dad only wants what is best for her. And things are different now. Abigail happily explains her parents are together, her dad is back, and life is good. They kiss. - EJ is led back to the conference room, where he has another visitor. He assumes it is his lawyer but instead finds Samantha ...
