He tells the guests, who include Doug, Julie, Kayla, Lucas, Kate, Ian, Victor, Maggie, Jack, Jen, Abigail, and Cam, that this gala is to help autism funding and honor his beloved late wife, Alexandra Carver. Applause. Abe continues. The children of autism are more than a mere statistic, like Theo. With foundations like this, they are ensured a better and productive future. Abe now emotionally proposes a toast to his compassionate wife, Lexie. He calls her an amazing mother and inspiration. All raise their champagne glasses in salute. And so the party begins! Theo wants a moment at the mike. He wants the guests to know he loves his mommy and wishes to make her proud. The guests mingle in the ballroom, with its prettily decorated tables, festive food, and the champagne flows freely. But the guests tonight are not without their own issues... Ian refers to Brady and Madison's wedding as a disaster. Kate, glamorous in glittery black, admits she has a certain respect for Madison. In her view, Mad and Brady deserve their happy ending! Ian frowns. - John and Marlena are at the condo in black. The mood is light for his son is getting hitched tonight! He teases he cannot find the rings, then whips them out of his pocket. They discuss how far Brady has come. He has planned a wedding within 24 hours! Suave John drawls soon Brady will be his best man when he walks doc down the aisle again. They kiss and the blonde gushes she cannot wait. Enter Madison, in her stylishly modern white cocktail dress, needing help with her zipper. Marlena thinks she looks marvelous. Madison is trying to relax, but she fears Brady might already be having second thoughts. John doubts it but the hopeful bride laments he is not returning her calls or messages. John the optimist suggests he might have forgotten to charge his phone. She hopes so. When she was a little girl, she and her sister used to play wedding and had such plans, then her life fell by the wayside. Marlena points out she was Ian’s victim. Madison emotionally thanks them for Brady. Marlena now has a necklace for her that would be something old and borrowed. But first John has something to say. - The treacherous tunnel echoes the muffled voices of Mel and Gabi. Brady and Chad are not sure where they are really being emitted from ... - As the electric box prepares to blow, Gabi tries to stop Andrew the maniac, who rages Mel must know everything! Pop pop pop! He comes to his senses and realizes the place is going to blow. He suddenly agrees the time has come to go and proceeds to free the two girls. Meanwhile, Brady stops Chad from yelling out Mel’s name and warns him such a thing could get her killed, given she is with a lunatic. - Bo and Hope confer with Dan and Nicole at the station. They assure him they will be in touch if there is news and suggest he still go to the wedding. They will have their phones. Everyone will be going to the church at midnight too. Dan reluctantly agrees to attend after all. Hope tells Nicole she looks nice and walks off. Nicole calls Dan brave but he feels helpless. - At the mansion, Roman demands Will tell him where EJ is. The loyal lad claims not to know. Roman is now informed by one of the cops that EJ’s tracking device was neutralized. He orders his men to search the grounds. Meanwhile, outside, EJ has just removed his ankle monitor. He and Sami steal away together. Inside, Roman puts out on an APB on EJ. The cop finds the ankle monitor that was left behind. Roman curses. He glares at Will. “Where did he go?” Will shrugs his shoulders and feigns ignorance. Exit Roman. But he is not without a plan ... - Kayla is impressed with what Abe has done for the gala. As Abigail and Cam take Theo to eat something, everyone gathers round Abe. Jack and Jen praise little Theo. Jen smiles he is a lot like Abe. Maggie tries to put on a brave face, then laments to Victor she should not be here. Vic assures her that Mel would want her to be here. She is sick with worry that her granddaughter remains missing with a madman. How to smile? Lucas approaches Kate and bitterly notes Austin and Carrie left without saying goodbye. Kate points out the sudden departure was all about Rafe. She sarcastically wonders where Sami is. Lucas stares. He now notices sour Ian guzzling champagne nearby. Kate tries to change the subject. Lucas solemnly informs her that Maggie told him Ian actually slipped Brady drugs. She dismisses the notion. Lucas sarcastically suggests she try to have fun and steps away. Kate now joins Ian, who claims he does not give a damn about Madison’s wedding and saunters off. Suited Bo and glamorous Hope arrive. Kayla remarks poor Daniel has yet to make an appearance. Victor quietly confesses to Maggie he hopes his godson does not show up with that floozy! The redhead reminds him no one present knows they are anything but friends. She would not be surprised if Daniel decided he did not wish to be near Victor tonight. Vic assures her he is concerned about his wellbeing. Maggie is too and God love Nicole if she can help him through this trying time. At that very moment, Daniel and Nicole are out in the hallway, but he changes his mind about entering the ballroom. He is not up for this tonight ... - Down in the tunnels, Brady orders Chad to follow him. Chad reminds him he has his wedding to attend. Brady remains focused on finding Mel first. The wedding can wait. Meanwhile, Andrew, Mel, and Gabi are about to flee when the electric box erupts in flames. KABOOM! The tunnels cave in even more ... - Sami is with EJ when she calls Will from a dark warehouse. They need his help. Their wish is his command ... - Dan informs nervous Nicole that shaking must have been an earthquake. He impatiently waits for the elevator. She thinks the stairs would be safer thought first he needs a hug. They embrace. She wants to go with him. The elevator door opens. Nicole stops him from leaving. She insists he needs her and does not wish to be shut out. They stand and discuss as the elevator door remains open. - In the gala, everyone discusses the earth shaking. Phones are ringing. Abe wonders if it was due to construction. Cops Bo and Hope answer their phones. Julie and Doug share that they have never experienced an earthquake but they have experienced every other disaster the world has thrown at them! Bo and Hope now want to talk to Lucas about Sami. He is livid to hear that EJ has fled. That is just typical. However, he has no idea where Sami is … Abe gazes at Lexie’s picture as her favorite song is played. “I only have eyes for youuuuuuu …” Kayla asks him to dance. And so they do. Maggie is moving her foot. Victor asks her to dance but she just wants him to hold her. And so he does. - EJ has taken Sami to a warehouse belonging to DiMera enterprises. She fears he could be caught but he refuses to leave town without seeing his children first! Moments later, Will arrives with Johnny and Sydney, who hug their father. He holds them close. Sami is ready to cry. EJ explains he has to go on an adventure. Johnny wants to come with daddy. EJ pleasantly informs his children, who are comfortable on his lap, that he needs them to stay and look after mommy. He reminds them how much he loves him. They love him too. The visit comes to an end and Will announces he will get the kids ice cream. They scamper off. EJ hangs his head. Sami stays with him. - Gabi and Mel slowly stand up in the dusty ruins. Andrew is trapped beneath a fallen beam and groans for help. - Meanwhile, Brady and Chad slowly come to their feet. They go their separate ways to find the girls. - John emotionally welcomes his new daughter Madison to the family. They hug. She is touched. John notes he makes his son so happy. She promises to be there for him. John is counting on it. Marlena ushers her to the wedding. John grins in approval. - Mel starts to walk out of the collapsed area, not having noticed Andrew nearby. Gabi pretends to have hurt her ankle and urges her to go and get help. Exit Mel. Gabi remains and tries to lift the heavy beam off Andrew, who now appears to be unconscious. - EJ is still seated in the warehouse. Sami places a reassuring hand on his shoulder. All of a sudden, the door opens below their platform and the cops peer in with their flashlights. Roman and Lucas follow behind. As it turns out, Roman was having Will followed. EJ and Sami are concealed above, lying silently together, careful not to make a sound ... Read Part 2 of CLIFFHANGER ...! |
