DESPERATE MEASURES!

- In quarantine, Nath and Mel wake up. He assumes it is morning. They both feel terrible. He teases Melanie that, as always, she looks good. She smiles weakly, then asks how they are doing, as per his professional doc's opinion. He tries to make her feel better. They must focus on the positive. She has a great dad and loving mom, not to mention how she delivered Chloe's baby. Mel feebly adds Maggie, then the fact that she and Nath are no longer at war. They are both glad about that.
Meanwhile Dan has been hard at work throughout the night. And he has the antiviral! Carly is elated. He warns they have no time to test the drug. They need the perfect dosage to save Nath and Mel. Carly concludes they need a guinea pig. Dan declares he has no choice. "I'm going to test it on myself!" Carly argues he is a new father so he cannot risk it. Dan insists there is no time left. But he must talk to someone before he does this. "Of course," whispers Carly. Dan thanks her for understanding, for always having his back. Once he is gone, Carly gets a determined look in her eye. She solemnly writes letters to Daniel, Melanie, and Bo, then takes the two test tubes ...
Steph and Phil visit Chloe in her room. She admits she thinks Dan is not telling her something. Enter Dr. Dan. He informs Steph and Phil that things might be looking up for Nath and Mel. They are hopeful. He would like a moment with Chloe. Exit Phil and Steph. Dan gets emotional and looks at his son. Chloe wonders if everything is alright. She feels he is acting like he might never see him again. She is horrified to hear of his plan to test the antidote on himself. Dan breathes his love knows no limits and he must help his daughter. Chloe is amazed at what a great father he
is and makes him promise to come back. They kiss on it.
- At the house of Kiriakis, Brady has just updated Nicole on the Vivian fiasco. He must now head for the hospital, as Mel and Nath are critical. Nicole assures him they will find a way to handle the crone Viv. She adds she needs to tell him something, too. "EJ has his kids back for good!"
He cannot believe that could happen, as he was a kidnapper. Nicole pauses, then shares the news with him of Ari's recording, which was with the things Arianna left. Brady points out he already went through those things. Nicole comes clean that she found and then gave it to EJ. Brady warns she will not get out of it what she thinks she will! He realizes she wants to be near Sydney, but EJ lies, so why would he keep any promise he made to her? If she thinks he will, then she is a fool ...
- Brady makes for the hospital and gets an update from Phil and Steph. Nathan and Melanie are all alone in quarantine together. Dr. Dan soon emerges. He wants a word with Phil. Brady goes to see Chloe. Father Matt appears and approaches sad Steph. She confesses she feels this is
her fault, as she was supposed to tell Nath and Mel something, but then they got sick. The priest asks if she was making an amend. Yes. He asks
if there is anyone else she can tell. Yes, but not now. Perhaps when the time is right, suggests Father Matt.
- Chez Rafe and Sami, they give Will and Ally breakfast and try to evade Ally's question about when Johnny and Syd are coming home. Will glumly wonders if they are ever coming back. Rafe takes Ally off to get dressed. Once she is alone with Will, Sami admits she does not know how it will play out, as she had to hand the two kids over to EJ. Will realizes Nicole must have gotten the camera and given it to him.
- At the mansion, Kate is surprised to find EJ with playing Johnny and
Syd in the living room. Elvis folds his arms and drawls he is not certain whether he ought to thank or destroy her! They discuss in the hall. Kate plays innocent. EJ snaps he has the proof that Sami shot him and she confessed she came to the mansion as KATE told her of his plan to take Johnny and Sydney out of the country. Kate calls him paranoid. EJ points out that is a lie and what will his fatha think when he finds out she is just as guilty as Sami! Kate leers at him that he is to blame for what happened and he should take a good look at what he is and what he has done! She insists she had no idea Sami would come over, find the gun, and shoot him. However, she has no regrets about calling her! She now sees what Sami does when she looks at EJ, beyond the surface charm. "A monster." She advises him not to try and hurt her and waltzes out. Ring ring! Tis Sami. EJ snaps they have nothing more to say to one another. Sami
claims there is still one thing. He sighs. She explains this is about all the kids, who miss each other. He dismisses the notion that Johnny misses his siblings. Sami asks him to let Will and Ally see their brother and sister. EJ refuses to discuss this with her and ends the call. Ding dong! Tis Nicole and she wants to know whether he is going to let her see Sydney or not. After the holidays, says he. Johnny runs downstairs and interrupts. Nicole sneaks in and joins Ally in the living room. EJ reminds her of the bad memories he has with her. However, seeing her with Sydney make something clear. He lets her stay and play with the kids. When Johnny scurries into the kitchen for milk, EJ turns to Nicole, who is still busy fussing over Sydney. "Clearly you love her." He suggests that she take his daughta to the garden, where they can play for an hour. But no more than that.
- Rafe returns to the loft and embraces upset Sami. Kate shows up and complains Sami did not bother to forewarn her that EJ knew she called
her the night of the shooting. However, she just happens to have a plan that might help them all. Is Sami interested? Rafe gets suspicious. Kate points out she sides with Sami and cannot stand the thought of Sami's children being taken from her. The way EJ did it was disgusting. Sami agrees. Rafe laments EJ holds all the cards. Kate replies but Stefano is presently out of town so she might be able to get some documents ...
Ring ring! Tis Brady, calling Kate. "Oh my God!" she gasps. She now states she has another fire to put out, promises to be in touch soon, and walks out ... Sami is rather dismal, as Kate's plans tends to blow up in her face. She will miss the kids for all the Brady holiday celebrations. Rafe assures "Mrs. Hernandez" they will find a way to get them back. Sami woefully excuses herself to go lie down. Once alone, Rafe drawls "This isn't over," grabs his jacket, and takes off.
- In quarantine, Mel sponges Nath's forehead. She is aghast when Carly walks right into the room, without so much as a protective suit! Carly is exposing herself to the virus!
In Chloe's room, Brady is shocked to hear that Daniel plans to test the drug on himself. He is concerned about Chloe. If she needs anything, she can count on him. She asks him to pray for Daniel. "I'll do that," replies Brady and exits. Chloe now picks up baby Parker and sighs "Mommy made a mess of everything. I cheated, I lied ..." She cries and asks God not to punish Daniel for her sins ...
- Dan returns to the lab and opens the letter Carly has left him. He rushes out, calling her name ...
Brady is in the hall, discussing with Steph and Phil that Daniel will test the drug on himself. Kate joins them and realizes they must wait and hope. She takes Brady aside and wants confirmation his phone call was true. "Vivian is free," he repeats. Kate warns she will come after all of them - and someone will be at the top of her list. Brady gets it. He will be first on her to-do list!
Meanwhile, Phil and Steph talk. He points out that if Dan pulls this off, they will all be happy. Steph gets intense. No, she woefully says - no one will be happy! There is the matter of the truth. "The truth about what?" wonders Phil. Steph seems to want to come clean right then and there. "Parker and you ..." she begins.
In quarantine, Carly comforts weak Mel and promises her that everything will be alright. Dan races to the door and yells at her to stop just as she proceeds to inject herself ...
- In the garden, Nicole is happy to be with Sydney and assures herself
she is doing the right thing. Inside, Elvis makes a comment about Johnny laughing even in his sleep and comes downstairs, only to find Rafe waiting for him! "What are you doing here?" The two men stare each other down. Elvis is as cool as a cucumber. Rafe smirks slightly. He is there for the children and hopes they can come to an agreement for the holidays. EJ is cold as ice. "No. Never!" Rafe's face falls.
- Back in the garden, Nicole continues to play with little Sydney just as Sami comes around the corner ...
