Up by early afternoon October 12 JUST THE FACTS! - At the elegant restaurant in Europe, Stefano takes a drink as Kristen defiantly declares she is not going to Salem. She haughtily stands up. “Sit down!” thunders the phoenix. She stops and meets his gaze. He grins. “I meant to say please.” - John and Marlena are about to take their leave from the coffee house when they run into Sonny and Will. John solemnly stares and deduces Sonny is the unnamed guy Will is seeing. He teases Sonny could do better. Laughs all around! - EJ is drinking all by his lonesome. He slurs a toast. “To my fatha, who made me wot I am.” Pause. “To love hah!” He suspects Samantha would have something to say about that. He now drinks to future generations, Nikki, then settles for a toast to misery. - At the apartment, Rafe unzips Sami’s dress and she breathily unbuttons his shirt. They fall onto the sofa. Sami pants and kisses his chest. Rafe removes the shirt. She suddenly stops. He asks what is wrong. Nothing. In fact, this is really right. She just wants him to know that she never for one minute ever stopped loving him. She loves him and she loves them. Rafe admits it took him long to get past his anger. There was other stuff too, but, rest assured, he never stopped loving her either. Not for a single minute. He kisses her and they lie on the sofa. Ring ring! - Jen is standing in her jail cell, flashing back to Nicole’s terrible tragic fall. Abigail and Hope arrive and Abigail would like an explanation why she is there. Jen gasps Nicole’s baby died and it is all her fault! They stare and she stammers she cannot remember clearly. She only wanted to get away from Nicole, who followed her up the stairs. She grabbed her arm and Jen pulled away, then she was on the ground and everyone said she pushed her. It was so fast and confusing. What if she did push her? Abigail is petrified that this means her mom could go to prison. Hope is solemnly silent. Jen takes her daughter’s hand and tries to reassure her. Hope explains they can get help from lawyer Justin about this terrible misunderstanding. Jen agrees they will figure it out. Hope ushers Abigail away with her to call Justin. She and cousin Jen exchange I love yous. - Nicole cuddles her now empty tummy, crying. Daniel returns. She begs him to stop looking at her and go away but he feels she should not be alone. She sighs she will always end up alone. He reminds her he is still here and offers to help. Nicole cries there is no help for her. Her son is dead. Dan knows there are no words but he is so sorry. Pause. However, he is still not clear on what happened. Nicole numbly repeats her original claim that Jennifer pushed her. “She killed my son!” And she just left her lying there, after which she went into labor. Dan starts to say something and she assumes he thinks she is lying. Dan states that what some others saw also supports what she is saying. Nicole raises her tired, tragic eyes to him. She cannot stop wondering what if … She should have tried to steer clear of the widow Jennifer. Dan urges the mourning mother not to think like that for she cannot change what happened. Nicole notes her son is dead and breaks down in tears. “It was my turn to have a child of my own!” He takes her in his arms and she cries she would have had someone to build her life around. Now her life remains meaningless and hopeless. She is utterly inconsolable. - Will, Sonny, John and Marlena enjoy their coffee at a table together. John suavely suggests they all go to Chicago and take in a Cubs game together. Marlena laughs that would be quite the double date. Will now steps away with her for refills on their coffee. John praises Sonny for his business. It is a good thing he has going, this establishment. Sonny is glad he brought it up. As a matter of fact ... - Kristen warns Stefano not to give her orders. He sighs he is desperate. After Lexie’s death, the family started to unravel. She muses they are not the Waltons and never have been. The phoenix laments he has done everything for his children and now … She cannot help but notice how torn up he truly is. Stefano admits she is his last chance, his last hope! - Dan is at the nurse’s station, a file in his hand He slams it down. Billie interrupts his thoughts. She is sorry about the baby, though words cannot convey enough. Dan realizes she was a witness and wants her to tell him what exactly happened. Billie does just that. She and Brady saw Jen screaming at Nicole on the stairs. Then Nicole screamed and fell down. It was a terrible scene to witness. Dan asks after Jen. Billie is surprised he does not know.”Jenifer has been arrested. They’re going to charge her with murder!” Dan stares in dismay. - Rafe is trying to ignore the phone as he is on the sofa with Sami. Dan leaves an urgent message, which he hears. Rafe jumps up for the phone. Dan informs him there has been an incident. He is at the hospital and thinks he should come right away. It is about Nicole. Rafe assures him he will be there. Sami glumly sits up and readjusts her red dress. Rafe explains Nicole is presently in the hospital. She offers to go with him. Not necessary. He apologizes hastily, gets dressed, kisses her, and departs. Sami starts to zip up her dress, miffed about needy Nicole ruining things, and decides to follow him to the hospital. She intends to be present when Rafe’s baby is born. She throws open the door, only to come face to face with ...EJ! - As Marlena puts cream in her coffee, Will notes his mom had insisted she would never reconcile with Rafe. Marlena chuckles with Sami nothing is absolute. Will wonders if they will ever all be happy at the same time. Marlena laughs that is quits a concept! Meanwhile. Sonny tells John his business idea. He is thinking of holding an interesting speaker series at the coffee house, with the interesting speakers telling stories about their lives. He invites John to be the first. John does not think he is so interesting but Sonny points out he has led an exciting life, like when he went after Stefano while married to his daughter. John solemnly disagrees to speak in the series, for those are things which must remain in the past, where they belong. "It's over." His eyes cloud over as he hopes it really is ... - Stefano reminds flippant Kristen that she needs the famiglia too. He senses she is lonely. The voice in her head will tell her that father phoenix is rrrrright. She should listen to it and let it tell her what to do! - Rafe races up to Dr. Dan at the hospital and is shocked to learn Nicole fell and lost the baby. He cannot believe such a thing would happen after all the trouble they went through. Dan has something to attend to and asks Rafe to sit with Nicole. Rafe agrees. Dan thanks his partner in crime and takes off. Rafe uncertainly knocks on the sleeping patient’s door and enters the dark room. He leaves the door slightly ajar and sits at Nicole’s side, peering at her until she stirs. “Rafe,” she whispers. He reaches for her hand and sympathetically pats it. She whispers she is in the hospital but she was not sick. “I had the baby,” she cries. Rafe stands up and hugs her, speaking no words as she continues. She sobs she cannot stand this. - Sami glares daggers at sloshed EJ and demands to know what he thinks he is doing at her door. Her raised arm prevents him from entering so he drunkenly ducks under it. He happens to be there for a brief conversation with Rafael. He notices her partially unzipped dress. She tells him to go and lectures him for thinking of drinking and driving. EJ had no idea she cared! He laughs with a slur and wants to know where her chosen one is. Sami puts her coat on and he soon realizes she is all alone. He smirks her savior is nowhere to be found! - Abigail and Hope return to Horton house. Hope has made contact with lawyer Justin, but nothing will happen until the morning. Abigail now informs Hope how angry her mother was at Nicole. It troubled her that Nicole was hurting Daniel. Hope becomes worried and wants to know more. Abigail cries she was the one who told her to do something to prevent Nicole from hurting Daniel. The girl appears to blame herself for what came next ... - Jen stands up when she hears a noise. “Justin?” Daniel slowly emerges from the shadows. He is seeking to understand what happened. - Sami warns EJ to leave her out of his drunken bitterness. EJ slurs she is losing her touch and taunts she did not make it past her first date with Rafe. “Quel dommage!” he drawls (which means what a pity in French). Sami orders the cultured DiMera to take his leave. EJ perches on the couch and charmingly suggests they go out or go bowling, Sami yells and threatens to call the police. As she rants, EJ suddenly sees the last number that called on the phone and takes off in a flash. Once in the elevator, he smiles to himself that the baby is coming .
