Up by early afternoon October 15 TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES - Nicole and Rafe agree to keep their baby secret as EJ stands at the half-open door of her hospital room. Nicole notes EJ has to continue believing he is the baby’s father. EJ scowls, then smiles, and steps away unseen. Nicole now apologizes to Rafe and weeps she ruined everything. He consoles her as she cries on his shoulder. - At the pub, Caroline cannot help but notice that Bo wants another coffee and it is very late. She does not appreciate him hovering and snaps at him to go home already! Meanwhile Nick is hard at work carrying dirty dishes. Gabi enters and expresses her surprise that they are still open. Nick explains Mrs. Brady wanted to catch the late dinner crowd. Gabi sighs she has been studying astronomy with not much luck. Nick offers to help her and he does not mean at the library. He grins and asks her on a date. She blushes and accepts. - At the coffee house, Will and Sonny talk alone at a table. Sonny is glad both John and Marlena approve of him as Will’s guy. Will is happy as a clam. Sonny now informs him there is something he has been wanting to do. He hopes he is up for the challenge … - Sami, still clad in her tight red dress, is unable to get any answers on the phone from the maternity ward at the hospital. She now rushes off to see for herself exactly what is happening over there. - At the hospital, EJ excitedly leaves a phone message for lawyer Justin. He can prove it is his baby that Nicole just had. After the lab technician does the necessary work, he is taking his son home! - Sami and Marlena run into each other at the town square. Sami informs her Nicole is having her baby and she is on her way to support Rafe. Marlena points out that no one invited her to be present. She warns Sami that her presence would only upset new Nicole. Sami claims she will keep the peace. Doubtful Marlena, who was hoping to counsel Sami and Rafe, stops pushy Sami her from going. Sami gasps she wants this to work for her and Rafe this time around. - Nicole is now groggy from the sedatives she was administered. She reminds Rafe not to tell anyone about the test switching. She knows EJ would not believe she had done it and there would be grave repercussions for those who helped her. There is Dr. Dan to consider. Rafe assures her he will not let EJ know, He agrees if he learned the stark truth, he would be out for everyone’s blood! - EJ approaches the nurse at the nurse’s station and announces he is the fatha of Nicole’s baby. Pause. She is sorry for his loss and offers to get the doctor. Perplexed EJ demands a direct answer from her. The nurse woefully states the baby did not make it. EJ stares in horror. - Will and Sonny are out of breath as they plop down on a park bench together. Sonny puts his arm around Will, who puts his arm around Sonny. They have just finished a rock climbing session. Will felt like he was hanging upside down for an hour! Sonny hopes they can go to the Himalayas together one day. Will hopes in their travels, they will be able to go to the beach too. Enamored Sonny assures him he can do anything he wants. - Gabi and Nick are sitting on the sofa at the town square together, star gazing. She is surprised he knows all the constellations but never studied astronomy. Nick explains he learned in prison, where he often gazed at a small patch of the night sky. It amazes him that he now has the whole sky to watch with a beautiful girl. She uncertainly asks if he thinks she is beautiful. Nick does indeed and gets closer for a kiss. Just then friendly Sonny and Will arrive. Gabi asks them to join them. Nick frowns. - Bo assures Caroline he is only lurking as he is lonely, for Hope is busy. Kayla enters and Caroline wonders if she is babysitting her too! Kayla disagrees. She would like some clam chowder and sits with Bo at the table. He mutters ma is in fine form tonight. He wants an update. Kayla has had a few test results come in, which ruled out a vitamin deficiency or thyroid problem. Bo wants to know what her instincts are telling her. “Does ma have Alzheimer’s?” She cannot say. Bo suspects she is holding back but she reminds him there is no concrete test. They must therefore keep testing her until something is found. It is a process of elimination. Bo sighs they have to be prepared …. Ring ring! Tis Fancyface, calling from Horton house. She complains Jen is in big trouble and Abigail is upset in her room. Bo is on his way! He will be back and tells curious Caroline and Kayla as much. Caroline now plays a joke on Kayla by pretending she thought she wanted chili. - EJ implores the nurse to tell him what happened. She only knows what she heard. She only heard Nicole was pushed down a flight of stairs. EJ wonders by whom? He should speak to the doctor or Ms. Walker, says the nurse. Before she walks away, he has one more question. Was it a girl or a boy? A boy. He stands and stares numbly at Nicole through her window as Rafe gets ready to leave. EJ’s eyes are filled with torment. - Marlena joins Sami at the apartment for a brief moment. She wants her and Rafe to make it this time. Sami exclaims how tough can it be! Mama Marlena reassures her and then takes her leave. Sami now starts to place a call on her phone to Rafe but suddenly stops. There must be another way to discover what is going on at the hospital! - Rafe sits back down at Nicole’s bedside when she tosses and turns. He urges her to stop fighting it and just rest. It was a terrible accident. Nicole, however, claims she was willfully pushed by Jennifer Horton. She hated her and wanted her and her baby gone. Rafe wonders if she is sure about that. Nicole insists she is and she wants her to be locked up by him! Rafe promises he will look into the matter and launch a criminal investigation if need be. He exits. - EJ is sitting alone in the waiting area, hanging his head in sorrow. A little boy approaches and asks if he got a shot. No. He just got some very sad news. The lad tells him to go home. That is what his dad would say. His eyes filled with tears, EJ politely thanks him for the good advice. His fatha is not at home and does not give good advice. The boy asks if he has other family. He does indeed. Matter of fact, he had a sister who is now gone. In addition, his brotha is angry at him, but he has two wonderful children … A woman now arrives to take little Josh to the pharmacy. EJ ties the boy’s shoelace lest he trip. The lad somberly states he must be a good dad. EJ replies that he tries his best. Once alone, the almighty DiMera heir loses control of his emotions and silently sobs. - Will sits with his arm around Sonny. Gabi asks about their date. Will teases it was nauseating as he had to climb a wall. Gabi laughs as she recalls their first date, when he was nervous about the height of the ferris wheel. Will hates heights! Nick suspiciously asks if they really dated. Gabi points out it was before Will realized he was not into girls. A flashback is shown of Will and Gabi’s recent fling and they both appear a tad tense. - Roman joins Kayla and Caroline at the pub and wants to know what is going on. Bo has not told him anything! Caroline explains to her son there is a possibility she could have Alzheimer’s. - At Horton house, Hope sighs to Bo that Jen has to spend the entire night in jail . She has been accused of murder two! Bo growls they should not have suggested intent as Jen would never willingly hurt anyone. Hope is frazzled. She must take some things to Jen. Bo explains he cannot stay for he must return to Caroline at the pub. Hope realizes something has happened and begs him to share. - EJ is now standing, lurking near the nurse’s station as he considers his next move. He overhears the nurse informing Rafe that Nicole has been sedated to help her rest. Rafe leaves his number and asks to be called if there is anything. He also mentions Dr. Jonas and the nurse notes he already checked in. Rafe now departs. EJ quietly places another call to Justin. He will not be needing a lab technician to do DNA testing after all.
