Up by early afternoon October 23 WHO'S THE BOSS! - Kristen repeats her offer of assistance to EJ, for she knows what he wants and precisely how to get it. He leans forward on his desk and muses she sounds like a genie with three wishes. She points out he has but one wish on his DiMera list! He pours himself a coffee and she repeats she can help him. He is well aware that she is acting on fatha’s behalf and she is under his control. Kristen reminds him he is her little bro. He gets sarcastic and snaps in reality, she does not give a damn about him. He now sits back down. She places her hand on a hip, pauses at the door, and declares she knows a great deal more than he seems to think! For starters, he is presently mourning the loss of his baby son. He refuses to discuss but she has been there and assumes he wants to hit back at the widow Jennifer. She has done her research and then some. The Jen she knew would not have been capable of such a thing. Then again, things happen, like what happened to her. EJ retorts he can take care of that one on his own. She points out Sami Brady is another story and notices his interest … One cannot judge for the heart wants what the heart wants, but Sami is no angel. EJ does not wish to hear anything against her. Kristen muses Sami is an … interesting choice. EJ gets a book and pretends to be busy. Kristen sneakily wonders what he has planned next. She learned that he changed the name of the father on his baby’s birth certificate, which originally had the name of one Rafael Hernandez. Rafe, the arch enemy of both Stefano and EJ, committed fraud. And now that he has Sami’s ex where he wants him, what does he intend to do about it? - At the town square, flustered Sami is sorry she bumped into Rafe. He asks her to wait and gazes at her with his soulful eyes. He proceeds to excuse himself for not telling her the truth, but there were other people involved. He implores her to give him a chance to explain. Sami waits. He brings up EJ but she does not want to hear about EJ. Rafe will not let it go. He points out EJ enjoyed hurting her when he made certain she heard the baby was his. Rafe insists he never wanted to hurt her in such a manner and moves closer ... - At the pub, Bo is on the phone, mighty pleased with the intel he just received. He promises to be in touch. Hope breezes in and he sips his coffee, asking about Jen, She updates him on EJ’s visit and he is irked. Hope learns Bo has been there a while. Caroline approaches and teases her son, referring to him as her babysitter. She hastily adds that she was joking. Bo and Hope enjoy the laugh. Caroline decides they can hang around unless she gets two paying customers for those seats. Bo would like to talk to her about a conversation he had with Roman and Kayla. She is not sure she is gonna like this. Hope reminds her she wanted to be involved in any discussions concerning her situation. Caroline realizes Hope knows too and admits she is relieved. Bo needs his Hope so she should know all. Hope whispers they all need her and hugs her. She loves her and is always here. Caroline knows and now sits with them to talk. Bo explains it was about work. Roman and Kayla are busy while he has time. Caroline abruptly stops him. She does not want him to lurk around watching over her all because of a bad couple of days. Bo points out it has been longer than that. He would rather she not work alone anymore. Caroline’s eyes mirror her upset. She refuses to be treated like an invalid. Besides, what if Bo were not always available? She walks back to the counter. Bo explains if she had some help … She stops him and exclaims she has an event approaching for the 4th of July. Hope looks ready to cry. Bo patiently explains they do not want to ruin that. Hope adds she has been online and there could always be someone there, to help if they were not available. Caroline becomes further upset and accuses them of humiliating her. There is no way! - Chad walks into the coffee house wearing a new sweater and spies Abigail drowning her sorrows with a coffee. He gently assures her he is not looking for a fight. She appreciates it. He asks if she is alright as he heard about what happened. Abigail fights back the tears and admits she is not alright. Gabi enters and wants to know what is going on. Abigail explains what happened to Nicole and what they are saying about her mom’s culpability. Gabi immediately thinks of Rafe. She is shocked that her friend’s mother pushed Nicole. Abigail insists it was an accident. Gabi wonders why Nicole would say it … Chad intervenes and orders her to leave unhappy Abigail the hell alone! Gabi airily states she is sorry and heads off to find Rafe. Chad sits down and complains to Abigail about Gabi’s behavior. She notes he is being hard on her. He growls Gabi is so consumed with herself and acts like they are extras in her damn movie. He starts to say something when his phone rings. Abigail tells him to answer. He does. Tis papa Stefano! Stefano asks his son how he is. He was fine until just now! The phoenix drawls he has been thinking of him. Chad bitterly notes he must have spoken to the other son. Stefano understands his anger and asks if they could start over. Chad wonders why bother. Stefano knows he has been going through a tough time and wants to help. Chad murmurs it is too little too late and ends the call. He gets choked up. Abigail is sympathetic. - From her chief of staff office at the hospital, Dr. Kayla calls a research program on dementia. She has a candidate and would like to know the parameters. The candidate is still active and thank goodness is not as far advanced as what they see. She gets off the phone and calls the next one on her list. - Gabi rushes up to Rafe, interrupting his almost moment with Sami. She throws her arms around him and lets him know how sorry she is about the baby. Sami grimaces. She suggests Gabi might not feel so sorry for 'her brother when she hears the truth and walks off in a huff. Rafe is unable to stop her. - Caroline petulantly counts money at the till while Bo apologizes for upsetting her. Hope assures her they would be discreet and would hire someone who appeared to be another employee. Caroline thinks it would be expensive. They explain they would take care of the expense. She calls it frivolous. Bo insists it is not frivolous. She is not happy about someone hovering. Bo points out he and Hope would not have to hang around and take away tables from paying customers. Caroline the woman of business considers. - Chad opens up to Abigail about his lingering feelings for his dad. She smiles that is not a bad thing. Chad complains about his dad driving him crazy, then apologizes when he sees he has made Abigail remember the loss of her own father. She laments she only wishes her dad was there for her mom at present. Chad thinks Jen is a good person and hates what is happening to them. Abigail just wishes her brother were around. She reminds Chad he still has his brother, unlike hers, who is far away. Chad sniffles yup, he still has that EJ. - EJ quietly states he is mourning his son, that is all. There is nothing to be gained by being vindictive, hence his inaction towards Rafael. Kristen wonders what is to be gained by NOT being vindictive. She suddenly realizes what he is up to. He is playing the role of the grieving parent, the better man . She is impressed and notes whether he likes it or not, he is like his father! She sits on the desk and adds he must have profound feelings for Sami if he would set aside his big chance at revenge. Sami might see the good in him this way. However, after all that he has done, would it actually be enough to win her back? - Meanwhile Sami sits and sulks alone on her sofa. She cannot imagine who is about to drop by ...!
