EJ stands up and declares he has no choice. Gabi suddenly starts to bang on the door and yells for Rafe to open. Rafe opens the door to his desperate sister. She hopes she did not interrupt. EJ purrs they had business but he feels Rafe has given him his answer. He smugly walks out. Rafe looks down. He assures his nervous sister they were only talking business. Gabi babbles about facing a long prison term. Rafe calmly remarks lawyers always give the worst scenario, Gabi gasps Chad despises her and could destroy her with his testimony. Rafe quietly promises her he will take care of it. - At work, Sami orders the secretary to put through Rafe Hernandez if he should happen to call. She flashes back to their kiss, stands up with a determined sigh, and marches off. - EJ returns to upset Chad’s place with a triumphant announcement that everything is under control! He winks it feels good. - Mel has done her packing. Dan is about to say something when there is a knock at the door. Tis Brady. He spies the suitcase and realizes what Chad said is true. Mel pouts. Dan discreetly excuses himself to get her a latte to slurp en route. She giggles thank you. Exit Dan. Brady bitterly wonders when she was going to tell him. She explains she had to do this for herself. It is not easy for her, since she must leave behind the ones she loves. She wishes he would console her. He hugs her and she cries on his shoulder like a little girl. - Lucas insists he is not old fashioned. He is just not used to seeing his son make out in public. It will take time. Adrienne knows this is about it being two guys. Lucas admits he does not know. Adrienne sits down with him and thinks it is good he is being honest. In addition, she will be honest. She was wrong to think Will was not the guy for Sonny, for he is wonderful and they could end up falling for each other. “We might be in-laws you and I.” Exit Adrienne. Lucas stands up. Will emerges from around the corner. Lucas gives him a sheepish look. He asks how long Will has been there. Long enough! Lucas laments it was not his finest moment as a father. He loves and wants to protect him. Will unhappily retorts that he wants to protect him from having a boyfriend. Lucas insists he is not a homophobe. Will begs to differ. Lucas understands if he hates him for how he feels. He has earned it if he hates him. - Mel tells Brady about Chad brutally beating on Nick. Brady had no idea as the illustrious DiMera failed to mention that part. As if she had not been through enough! Mel cries she is now abandoning her pal Brady. He teases it will mean one less person hovering. She shall miss his loving sarcastic wit. He will miss everything about her. He promises she will always have his friendship, no matter where they are. She cries and hugs him one more time. - Chad only wants to talk about Melanie and demands to know what EJ has under control. What has he done? It had damn well better not get in the way of him and Melanie. “Do you understand me!” he rages. - Rafe gets out of the shower in his towel and makes a few notes. He now has an unexpected visitor. Tis Sami, who looks him up and down with a big grin. - Will glumly stands across from his father, his eyes filled with tears. He is not going to yell at him. He is not mad, just sad. Lucas assures him he wanted to protect him. From being gay? Lucas reasons they can work this out as they love each other. Woeful Will does not see how, as he does not accept who he is and that is the problem. He walks away. A frown creases Lucas’ brow. - At the glamorous Kiriakis mansion, Justin pours himself a well deserved drink and makes a joke about his bad day. Adrienne is in a good mood. She giggles she stood up for Sonny and Will. Justin is surprised. Sonny enters the room in time to hear her say any reservations she had about Sonny and Will are completely gone. She realized she was being unfair and judgmental. Sonny grins she wants him to be happy. He puts his arms around his two parents and gushes they say you can choose your friends and boyfriend but you can’t choose your family. He feels he got lucky. Adrienne and Justin toast to that! - Dan is back with little Mel’s big coffee. She accepts it with a laugh. Last time he got her one of these she accused him of hovering. She admits she will miss that. He will miss her a great deal. They hug again. The medicine man gets choked up and vows he will text her, skype her, and keep hovering regardless. She will never be rid of him! Maggie emerges and asks if she can do anything else for her to get ready. Mel asks her to return her engagement ring to Chad and hands it to her. - EJ informs Chad he is protecting HIM. Chad demands to know what else he has been doing. EJ assures him he will go find Melanie now. Chad is livid. EJ notes he seems obsessed. He understands what it is like to become obsessed over a girl, letting everything else fall by the wayside, and leaves to fix everything. - Rafe comes back into the room with his clothes on. Visitor Sami starts to babble about his mood. Was it really because of her or was she just overreacting? She hopes they can start today over. Rafe gives her a dismal look. - The time has come for Melanie to head to the airport. Maggie takes her suitcase out. Dan would like to say goodbye now as he does not wish to embarrass her at the gate. They embrace and exchange I love yous. He asks her to text him when she arrives. She agrees and walks to the door. He places his hand on his heart. She stands in the door, salutes him, and leaves the same way she breezed into Salem, wearing an impish smile. - Maggie wants to say goodbye in the hallway. Mel cries it will hurt the most. The redhead tells her how proud she is of the young woman she has become. She fills her heart with love and has that effect on others too. Mel thinks so does she and calls her grandmother sweet and kind and loving. They cry their last tears and Maggie urges her not to say goodbye, for she is in her heart. - Lucas follows unhappy Will and tells him he still loves him. Will cannot believe how that sounds. He still loves him even though he does not want him to be gay? He implores his father to change how he feels or there will be nothing to say between them. He leaves Lucas standing alone. - Gabi walks under the arch of the town square. When she spies Chad storming along, ready to explode, she cowers. - Dan looks at the family photo on the mantelpiece. Knock knock. Tis EJ. He wishes to speak to his daughta. Dan explains she is gone. EJ’s eyes flicker with worry. - Sami notices Rafe’s silence. She repeats she wants them to start over. What does he say? Rafe mutters he does not think so. He lies he does not think it will not work. Sami blinks back her tears of disappointment as he woefully watches ... END |
